Heater fan speed ford focus 2002

When i select the speed of the blower in the car it will only work on the highest number 4 speed i have replaced the switch but it still does it..

I had this problem about 3 years ago, Under warrany, the dealer replaced the resistors underneath the glove box. Where your passangers put their feet. There are 3 or 4 resistors soldered to a plastic plate that plug in. They allow the fan to operate at different speeds., mine only worked on high. You can go to the dealer and get the exact replacement set and install it your self for a lot less. When I did it, I read them out with a fluke, but since it was a warranty item I figured I'd let the dealer fix it. Hope it helps.

fords are notorius for faulty fan switches, you will need to get a new one, but it will probably fail in a year or two.

SOURCE: heater (and a/c) blower motor runs only at the two highest speeds

I had the same exact symptom (02 Prizm LSI)..Order yourself a Blower Motor Resistor (I clicked on it---scroll up on this same screen that you are reading--- AC Delco part, $25.79). When the part arrives, look at it, and then look behind and to the left of your glove box door, YOU WILL SEE IT RIGHT AWAY. 2 screws, takes about 10 minutes to change. Its been nice to get all 4 speeds back! Good luck.

Why does my blower only work on number 4

this sounds like a bad blower motor resistor that is bad and only working when the switch is put in the 4th position. the resistor has resistors wires in it that respond to the path of power through fan switch on the dash, depending on which fan speed you need.

Hello my name is Sean and I have a 2002 ford focus wagon with a 2.0 motor. The blower fan for the heat and air has stoped working. I have ordered a new blower fan and resistor but havent received yet. I...

the fan motor is maybe bad, disconnect it (the motor) and put in new fuse, if its ok, then the motor is bad. the resistor only handles speeds lower than HIGH. so replace the motor first, then try it, if all speeds work, then the resistor is OK.

The heater fan on my 1993 f-350 has become really loud. I only have hi speed which I understand may be a resistor issue but how do I remove the fan and motor assembly to inspect it?

A heater blower motor resistor is an electronic device with three or more progressive resistors that allow the heater blower motor to operate at slower speeds. The highest speed of the heater blower motor is not controlled by the resistor, so when the resistor fails, the fan will often work on the highest speed setting, but not the lower speeds.
To resistor is generally located under the dashboard and under the hood, near the blower motor . The resistor's electrical connector is disconnected, the resistor is removed and the new resistor is installed. On some vehicles it may be easily accessible, and on others it may take partial dashboard removal to replace the resistor.
Look under the hood, generally the wiring for the Blower resistor is attached to the wiring to the blower motor itself
It's inboard & below the motor, near the accumulator. You can see it standing beside the passenger fender. it's the off-white connector behind the L heater hose above the vacuum reservoir & the white WARNING sticker

Ford fusion 2007, blown blower fuse, replaced fuse, works at highest speed only (highest of 4) the other three setings don't work.

hte blower resistor is shot, near the blower motor, have the blower motor checked my guess is that it requiring too much power to run, hence the blown fuse

I have two first my four speed fan only runs on speed 4 FAST and the second is my front washer does not work

If your blower motor will only run on the highest speed the blower motor resistor pack is defective and needs replacing. If the windshield washer does not work then the fuse is blown or the motor is defective. If the motor is running but no spray is coming from the nozzles then the nozzles are clogged with wax. Use a needle to unclog them.

Heater fan will only work on the highest setting ,no.4?

This sounds like the blower resistor has gone out. This is the component that allows the proper voltage to the fan to change the speed. Have it checked and replaced. That should get you back in business. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Heater fan only works on fastest speed

Your blower motor resistor has gone bad, it should be located next to your blower motor in the car, held in place with a couple of screws, remove it and replace it. The resistor is responsible for making the blower motor run at slower speeds than high or (4). Let me know if this helps.
