When i select the speed of the blower in the car it will only work on the highest number 4 speed i have replaced the switch but it still does it..
Change the fan resistor, its under passenger dash, very cheap to buy and fit in 20mins.open your dash and press 2 side in to let dash door drop down.you,ll see it on left hand side on a left hand drive car and right side on a right hand drive.it contols the fan speeds.just release wire block, undo screw, take out and put new one in.normaly white or blue in colour.hope this helps

fords are notorius for faulty fan switches, you will need to get a new one, but it will probably fail in a year or two.

Your switch acts as a reastat which adjusts your speeds your switch is going bad so you only have the two speeds left on that reastat.. thanks Jerry
SOURCE: heater (and a/c) blower motor runs only at the two highest speeds
I had the same exact symptom (02 Prizm LSI)..Order yourself a Blower Motor Resistor (I clicked on it---scroll up on this same screen that you are reading--- AC Delco part, $25.79). When the part arrives, look at it, and then look behind and to the left of your glove box door, YOU WILL SEE IT RIGHT AWAY. 2 screws, takes about 10 minutes to change. Its been nice to get all 4 speeds back! Good luck.

I had this problem about 3 years ago, Under warrany, the dealer replaced the resistors underneath the glove box. Where your passangers put their feet. There are 3 or 4 resistors soldered to a plastic plate that plug in. They allow the fan to operate at different speeds., mine only worked on high. You can go to the dealer and get the exact replacement set and install it your self for a lot less. When I did it, I read them out with a fluke, but since it was a warranty item I figured I'd let the dealer fix it. Hope it helps.
