HI. My camry Vienta V6 automatic shudders on some days at idling speed and when accelerating. It is an intermittent problem, it happens about half the time when i drive it. i have taken it to the dealer and they said there is nothing wrong and the "car is in good nick". Obviously they could not locate the problem. A friend suggested that it could be the fuel filter in the tank, I don't even know if there is a filter in the tank?. Please help!
You've exactly described the symptoms I had in my 94 V6 Camry. It took a long while to trace the problem to a faulty ECU, the car's computer. If replaced, it should be with one from the same model and year (usually from a wrecker) and if possible with the same accessories like A/C etc.
There will be a fuel filter whether it is in the tank or after the pump will have to be found but it will not be the problem
the problem could be from dirt in the injectors so run a quality injector cleaner for a couple of tank fills
you feel the problem so there is a problem and many mechanics ( dealer or otherwise ) do not use or know how to use a scanner correctly
fault codes become stored after a period of time so an intermittent short time shudder may not be enough to get a code stored for reading
Check the engine mounts and drive shafts for play in them. think on that year it may have a balance weight on a drive shaft check this is not lose, these can cause intermittent vibrations or shudders.

You will have to change the swich that control the wiper blades cause sometimes they go bad

check the fuel filter and when was the last time you had a tranny service done and a tune up also check the drivebelt

Get a T belt from toyota. It has 3 white lines on
it and and arrow mark. 2 lines are solid and one is broken. Put the
arrow facing away from the engine. The cam gears have a dot punched
into them near a certain tooth. This is where the solid white lines
will line up with. The crank gear will have a dot also. It will line up
at 90 degrees from the top, towards the front of the car. This is where
the broken line will match up with. With the belt installed with all
lines on their proper dots and arrow away from the engine, you valve
timming is correct.
Of course you need to remove and compress the tensioner also. I assume you know this already since you didn't ask.

You can get one from a Camry the same generation as yours. It will most likely fit.

Because the fuse is missing and hard to find I would look to see if someone by-passed the fuse and that be the problem. It should be fused.
