Wouldnt start, checked fuel cut off switch pushing down on button and it started, afterwards it started in morning, got fuel,went to store, did not start again, checked fuel pump cut off switch and it didnt push in, assuming it did not cut off. went to start it again and it started. stopped at sons house, again it didnt start. turned off key removing it from ignition, and it started. turned off at home. again it would not start. why is it intermitant?

Ive never seen a car start up just fine after leaving the key on all night. I would try jumping it. If the voltage is too low it wont start.

Replace the switch.Yes they can be faulty.If that doesn't solve the problem then your fuel pump is causing it to trip out.change the fuel pump.good luck.

Replace the fuel pump relay. And if your truck has dual tanks there's three fuel pumps, one in each tank and another secondary fuel pump.

You said you tightened the battery cables, did you check the other end of the negative where it bolts to the engine. When you tightened the cables you also used a battery brush and cleaned the posts and ends?
