Im having a really hard problem finding diagrams of the clutch or even general motor area, does any body have a site or some they can send me via email?
Ask http://manualfox.com - they will find you the schematic.
Reach deep down in your pocket for a $20 bill, use it to buy a haynes manual from your local parts store, amazon or haynes.com. The time and blood you save may be your own;~). If this manual doesn't save you more than $20 of your time ... then you don't value your time much. All diagrams for everything, clutch, tranny, full motor rebuild, suspension, wiring .. you name it.
good luck,

FYI The later VW's have more stuff available on the net, I ound a great 12 page guide for doing 2005 TDI-PD Timing Belt, it was better than the $100 factory bentley publishers manual ! They didn't have a Haynes yet for my car when I did the TB.
BTW I put a clutch in my wife 98 passat, probably a similar job. I got a HD but cheap chinese jack from Autozone and an adapter plate (that can replace the standard jack cup) that has arms and straps and you can secure a tranny or motor to it .. handy if you don't have a proper garage car lift. About $100 for both, I used to 98 Passat Clutch and 2005 Jetta TDI timing belt. I mention in case you haven't got another plan.
Did you like the Haynes?
cheers,
Allen
