Can any one help ?? my golf engine management light keeps coming on and keeps miss fireing and not running right when its cold have replaced all the coils then one went down a week later so replaced that one again. Prior to me owning the car, it was re-mapped and chipped. Car is running fine at the mo, however engine management light continues to stay on - and still running rough when cold
Thats the risk you run when you have a third party not liscensed by volkswagen mess with your ECM. take it to the tuning shop that did the remap work and ask them to redo it because it messed your engine up, if you make a big enough stink they might do it for free.

All two trouble code means one think.Engine have not proper fuel mixture.First step-check EVAP/evaporator canister purge valve-open circuit/.If OK change the lambda sensor.
Either you have a lubrication problem or a bad oil pressure sender. You need to have it scanned for DTC and do an oil pressure test before you seize your engine.
if you have a pd engine and you say that it miss fires i would change the wire loom to the injectors if it persists the air flow meter is on the blink, has you car ever gone into a limp mode status were you couldn't rev then check your turbo ,this may sound strange but just had a 150bhp tdi which was remapped with a very simular problem
the golf gti was plauged with a fault which vw will not own upto. it is a know fact that the induction manifold can sometimes fracture and allow unwanted air in when hot. if well serviced you will find this to be the problem. if not then i would strongly recomend that you service it.
