1991 ford Crown Vic.. Engine light flashes 3 times and goes out.

There doesn't seem to be any symptoms that cause it... just randomly flashes a few times. there are about 207,000 miles on it and it runs fine, though when it's gas is low it does take a few turns of the key to turn it on, but that only happens when gas is low. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

SOURCE: Ford Crown Vic p0300 random cylinder misfire

take a look at the EGR valve it could be either vacum controlled or electronic either way what seems to be the problem is that the valve is stuck in the open position until the engine warms up you can gently tap the egr valve with a small hammer or a screw driver and you can see that it runs smooth, now if the egr valve is vacum controlled replace the valve. if it is electronoc controlled replace the valve and the module for the egr valve.

SOURCE: 2007 crown vic 4.6 l idles high on startup

This sounds like a normal condition. What happens is the cold start emission reduction component monitor(software program in the computer) is running.
Cold Start Emission Reduction Component Monitor
The Cold Start Emission Reduction Component Monitor was introduced for the 2006 MY on vehicles that meet the
LEV-II emission standards. The monitor works by validating the operation of the components of the system
required to achieve the cold start emission reduction strategy, namely retarded spark timing and elevated idle
airflow.
When the CSER strategy is enabled, the idle air control system will request a higher idle rpm, elevating engine
airflow. While this CSER elevated airflow is requested, the low airflow test compares the measured idle airflow from
the MAF sensor to the commanded idle airflow from the idle air control strategy.

SOURCE: Wiper motor replacement for a 99 crown vic

I replaced the same part on a 1994 Crown Vic. There are a few bolts which go through rubber mounts on the firewall and that is how the wiper motor fits against the firewall. There is a clip on the wiper drive that must be pressed and slid off the wiper shaft. The hardest part was getting clearence between the engine and wiper motor. If I remember there was a way to turn the wiper case to clear the engine. I have asked myself why this was engineered like this? There is nothing important in the way that 3/4" of clearance could have been given for removal.

I would try to replace your spark plugs, and spark plug wires, My 88 Vic did the same thing...now it runs like a champ....you could also try fuel injector cleaner.

1993 crown vic the check engine light goes on only with highway driving what could it be . When Im park and restart it its off again

You a have a check light on

That is called a MIL Lamp (Malfunction Indicator Lamp)

That not new to the auto industry

OBD1 Systems like yours stared in 1983 thru 1995

OBD2 is 1996 trhu 2013

So you check for codes every time you get any
dash light that doesn't go off once the engine is running

I would think you have experience with check lights & codes,
for decades with all your vehicles

Once you get the codes, I would guess your off to a repair shop,
as you didn't state you had codes or experience with cars & the
systems of the past 31 years

98 crown vic charge light goes on and needle goes to full charge when excelerating?

Sounds like the voltage regulator has failed.
Check voltage at the battery with the engine at idle and again with the engine at cruise speed. Voltage should be around 13 volts at idle and 14.5 volts at cruise speed.

If that's the case than your only alternative is to call you local towing company or locksmith and have then perform a lockout service.

Why would the cooling fan not be working in a 2005 crown vic CVPI

Does it work when you turn the A/C on? The fan always kicks on with the A/C, if it doesn't look for a blown fuse. Or possibly a fan motor burnt up. If it works with the A/C but doesn't when the engine is too warm, it is probably the temperature sensor.

2000 crown vic p71 random misfire changed all plugs some coil packs now when i floor it i will instantly or some time short after start missfiring on all 8 sounds like **** rough loss of speed gas pedal...

If you already changed plugs, rotor and cap please consider fuel filters ( both in-line and in the carbeurator). If that doesn't resolve the problem look at timing, timing chain and/or missing teeth on the flywheel which would cause slipping and misfiring.

1985 ford crown vic ltd 352 200k miles been running good burns NO oil.\r\ndriving at night engine shuts down. I turn lights off, wiggle turn signal switch and it starts again. Once I was making a right...

I dont see if the turn signal light has to do any thing with the engine shutting off, make sure the IAC idle air control valve is working, air filter is good, fuel filter is good and IF your vehicle has a power steering pressure switch then that could be causing it but with 1985 Crown Vic I dout it.

1999 FORD CROWN VIC. 4.6 - PROBLEM, NOISE

This is caused by the IAC valve. Over time the valve becomes gummy and inoperative. Get it replaced and the problem is solved. IAC stands for idle air control, hence the stalling concern.

2003 Crown Vic Misfiring after acceleration

I just came up with that exact issue in my 2003 with 98K police crown vic. And the last time I had this issue in a 2001 police Crown vic it was the crank shaft position sensor. A $20 part and about 30 mins to put it in. located near the bottom of the engine. I had to un bolt the A/C compressor and push it out of the way a few inches to get to the sensor. If you have about 100K mile on it and its an idled heavy police car, this sensor should be changed out anyway. It can leave you on the road dead and some dealers have a hard time find out whats wrong as the OBD 2 does not see it as a problem when it goes bad or becomes touchy as I think mine is.
