The plenum may be cracked, check for air blowing out where it should not, or the blender door is not opening, a cable sheath may have popped loose, or the heater core itself is clogged with leaf debris blocking air flow..

There are generic block heaters available that fit in the radiator hose and keep the water warm thus heating the block as well.

SOURCE: 1996 saturn SL heater blows luke warm air,

IF ENGINE RUNS AT RIGHT TEMP SOUNDS LIKE YOU MAY HAVE AIR BLOCK, OR BLOCKED HEATER MATRIX, CHECK FIRST CHECK THE HEIGHT OF THE HEATER MATRIX IN THE CAB , IF ITS HIGHER THAN THE FILLER/EXPANSION TANK. THEN COULD BE AN AIR LOCK, LOOK FOR THE HIGHEST PIPE AND SEE IF THERE IS A BLEED VALVE, IF NOT TAKE BOTH PIPES OFF THE MATRIX FEEDS (TWO PIPES GOING FROM ENGINE BAY TO INSIDE OF CAR, AND FLUSH OUT WITH HOSE TO SEE IF IT IS BLOCKED, AND RECONNECT LOWEST PIPE FIRST AND FILL SYSTYM TILL WATER APPEAR FROM TOP AND RECONNECT RUN MOTOR, AND KEEP TOPIN UP, YOU CAN BUY A COOLENT FLUSH SOLUTION TO CLEAN THE SYSTYM OUT

Why is my heat or air is not blowing and car is running hot

How hot is the engine running in degrees f? Does the radiator fan run?
With hvac turned on, check voltage and ground at the blower motor. If good voltage and ground, suspect the blower motor is faulty.

Model sl1 96,1.9l - heat in car not worki to good the cold it is the less it heats up. and fan does no t seen to blow to good. and now the engine is reving up when you start it up and does not go down to...

I would look for a vacuum leak around the engine that supplies the heater doors. You might use a spray bottle to find the leak and make the repair since the problems seem to be connected.

Sounds like a thermostat problem to start with. Follow the top rad. hose to the engine. You will have to bleed the system of air after.

1996 satun will not turn over

Your starter is bad. Replacing it will fix your problem. The solenoit is kicking in (click) but thermal expansion (heat) is exxaggerating an internal problem. When its cold, the internal tolerances are larger.

95 saturn won't start when hot

Blair, I would take a look at he TPS (throttle position sensor) located on the throttle body. In other words, it sounds as thought sensor when heated is changing its value to "open" or "shorted".
If the car starts OK when cold, use a hair dryer to heat the TPS when the engine is cold to see if you can duplicate the problem.
Also is the a service engine light on? Codes?
If you have a "digital volt/ohm meter" available you can read the variable resistance of the sensor when the problem occurrs to determine if the sensor is defective.
