2003 pontiac sunfire, car won';t start just makes a whirring noise, I put a new starter on it, new ignition coil pack, new ignition coil pack module and it still won't start but makes the whir

ARE YOU CHEKING SPARK OFF THE COIL TOWER OR AT THE SPARK PLUG END OF THE WIRE SOUNDS LIKE YO HAVE A BAD WIRE

I had that problem last year. I bought a new starter but it was not the correct one for my car. For the 98 there are two different starters. I bought the wrong one the first time. My step father started to put it one and realized it was not the same as the one he just pulled off. Ending up taking it with us when we returned the orginial one I bought. The orginial one I bought was about $70 the correct one was $400. The auto store did not have the correct one listed as a replacement part. Until the number off of the part was keyed into the system and found out that it was just not the common replacement part.

More than likely it is the window regulator which is usually replaced as a unit with the motor. Not difficult, pull off door panel and plastic liner and see the nuts to remove....about 4. tape glass up to top and pull out regulator...unclip wires. cost $50 to $100. Don't recommmend junkyard because these will be bad. Make sure that you seal plastic liner when reinstalling.

check and see if your if you timing belt is ok. see if you distorter is turningn round

The ignition coil assembly is locate on the side of the block towards the firewall and under the intake manifold-2.2L engine
