Car: 1993 Ford Escort 1.6LX The car alarm will not disarm if I open the door from the driver side (i.e. the red light keeps flashing and the alarm with sound if I open the door). To disarm, I need to turn unlock the door from the passenger side or turn the key once to unlock it. It seemes to have suddenly developed this annoyance one morning. Have I put the car alarm into some sort of "test mode" by accident? If so how do I fix it? Many thanks if you can help! -- ... It seems that the contact circuit in the driverside door is the problem, it's obviously not the alarm itself others wise the same thing would occure on the passengerside. you have to remove the door panel on the driverside and inspect the wires in that circuit for corrosion which would cause no current to pass between the by pass switch the arms or disarms the alarm. please rate this
