If you have the dutch rear doors, and one side unlatches, the problem may be a disconnected link rod in the hatch door. Remove the interior handle, and look to see there are 2 links attached to the actuator bar. Slamming the hatch door closed often pops one (or both) links loose. If the plastic rod retainer clip is broken or missing, replacements can be purchased from GM.

This may be a Body Control Module (AKA, BCM) issue, this module controls these functions, wsaw this same issue on a Buick, it was the BCM, you will have to have an active system tester with live data stream cycle the locks to see what the problem is, as far as I know the dealer is the only place that has this type of dedicated test gear.

My power door locks and rear hatch on my 2000 GMC Safari will not work. Everything else is still working. Any idea of what may be wrong?

There are two fuses associated with the door locks system. The first is the Cigarette Lighter Fuse (Fuse 13 - 20A). This fuse provides power to the switches to activate the lock/motor relays. The second fuse is the PWR ACCY Circuit Breaker (30A). This provides the power thru the relay contacts to the lock solenoids/door motor. Both of the are in the Instrument Panel (IP) Fuse block.

1998 safari rear door lock / power locks

This problem can be caused by a few things, it could be the rear door lock switch or lock module located under the dash or last the rear door actuator.

You say that all door lock and unlock on there on, this tells me it most likely has a module problem or wiring to the rear door is bad.
The first thing i would do would be to remove the rear door panels and check wiring to switches and actuator, then follow wiring from inside the rear hatch to where in goes through the body. the wiring most times breaks at that point where the wiring is bent over from opening and closing rear door ,

Locate the wiring going into door or doors. sometimes the wiring only goes into one door but then sometimes in goes into both doors, check the wiring closely . it may be covered in a rubber boot . if it is covered you will need to slide boot back to check wiring.

Good day. hope this is helpful.

My 95 GMC safari, rear hatch stuck closed on passenger side

You have to crawl in the back remove the panels and find the actuator(s), when you find them check for any linkages the may have fallen off. Gm uses little clips that get brittle and break. if it is a clip reinstall rod with a new clip or reinstal rod and secure with mechanics wire.

If the actuator is broken you can hook up a volt meter to the pin outs and test for power by hitting the door lock unlock button. If there's power then chamces are that the actuator is faulty. if theres no power check ground connections fuses relays and re test. good luck
