Replacing factory radio

I replaced my radio in my 2004 gmc envoy with an after market radio installed fine but could'nt find the ignition wire for the radio so it would turn on and off with the key i used a tester but could'nt find it in the factory plug

i think those GM people just want to make money i owned 3 GM SUV for last 10 year all the TIME same problem came to all my stereo I`m sick OF it will not BUY any GM any more no wonder people don't BUY THERE cars,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I replace my factory radio with a new Cd player and now it has now power whatsoever. I also have the same problem with my speedometer. I didnt expect to see all of these complaint on the same problem.

With that year vehicle it is recommended that you use a special harness because it has an factory amp and in order to get the proper wiring it requires the harness also if you don't use the harness you will loose your onstar and vehicle chimes and warning sounds.

2004 ENVOY BATTERY LIGHT, RADIO, AND WINDOW FUNCTIONS WORK WITH KEY OFF AND DRIVER DOOR OPEN

These truck are known to have ignition switches go bad and result in strange electrical problems. I would suggest replacing the ignition switch (not the part that the key goes into).

2004 GMC Envoy Radio high pitched noise when off and static

In my opinion, it's almost certainly the radio. Even when turned off, it is still alive managing a few other things (like chimes) until you exit the vehicle, and I suspect that part of the radio is faulty.

Installing an aftermarket stereo, spliced the wires and have everything connected including the remote wire to the factory amp wire but still no sound.

There is no remote wire on these newer trucks....03 and up....u have to buy the harness....although i didnt....i have an 03 gmc sierra and just pulled the schematic and matched the wires. And there is no programming to do on an aftermarket stereo.....I work for GMC and we cant program aftermarket stereos......if u buy the right harness ...and its over $100 then everything should work just fine.....and this does not disarm ur alarm system either....mine still works fine....hope this helps

Tried to put an aftermarket radio.

Hello, If you haven't cut any wires you really don't need to. They make a plug that you can get at wally world for about $15. It makes a clean installation and when you get ready to sell the envoy you will be able to replace the aftermarket back with the stock radio. It will make the wiring simple and easy also has an adapter for the antenna. Please rate my answer, Thank you.
