This problem can be split into 2 main catagories. First, is whether the water is flowing through the heater core. Second, whether the ducts inside the dash are routing hot air past the heater.
You will see 2 garden hose sized water hoses going into the sheet metal where the passengers sit, called a cabin. Both of the water hoses should be hot when the engine has warmed up and is running. You need to hold both water hoses to determine their temperature.

If one hose is not hot then water flow is the problem. You would then look for flow control valves. Some are controlled by hard cables and some are controlled by vacuum and some are entirely electric solenoids.
You must find these control points and find out if they work.

The other potential problem is duct work switching under the dash. If all the hoses are hot, then some ductwork flap is not moving correctly. You would need to trace that.

Heat and air conditioning does not work.

say what dont work.
ok the blower blows, and for sure on high.
so what do you want , and where.
heat to cab?
cold air conditioning to cab?
does not work, ok
lets do 1. no heat to cab,
blow fuse is 1st . check all fuse. (see glove box operators guide)
if no heat:
check engine heat, is it 180F and holding
check cap heater core hose, in heat mode are both hot. ?
if both are hot you have heat to the core and is a damper failure
in the heater box (or controller)

Front heat does not work, rear heat does?

I'm just a regular diy'er, no training. Had same problem, 2001 Suburban, front blew cool air when heating, rear heat warmed up nicely. After reading other posts on other boards, took off the the heater hose clamps (make sure you remember which is which) at the firewall. With low pressure garden hose flushed left inlet/outlet first till I got good flow, then the right side, and back to left. Reattached hoses, started and tested. Heat blows just fine. I can't think of anything that could be damaged by this, but check with someone who know something first before trying it on your vehicle, but it worked for me. So far so good.

Heated leather seats will not heat up. Switch lights up and all fuses are okay. Is there a hiddedn relay I am not finding? Is there a quick way to determine if the problem is in the heating element under...

are you saying neither the heated seat cushion nor heated seated back on either seat works? But the light or lights does work?

Please rate as solved if this helps you. It took some time to dig all this stuff up. Please report progress.

Here's some info to start you off:

  • The heated seat is inoperative — seat does not heat but the heated seat switch illuminates when pressed
  • Circuitry.
  • Heated seat module.
  • Seat heater and temperature sensor.
  • Seat back heater.
  • Heated seat switch.

1998 S10 heat wont work sometimes

When you say the heat doesn't work are you meaning the fan doesn't blow out hot air or just doesn't blow out any air? if it blows cold air sometimes when you have the heat on then it could be poor circulation through your radiator or a weak water pump. make sure your radiator is clean on the inside, not too corroded or nasty inside. You can buy a radiator flush thing from wal-mart or any auto parts store. See if it helps.
