Which one?
if the rear transmission, it just is a conn, and 1 screw.
a 96 -2006 sure.
42RE transmission or what? there are 2.
why not post the DTC error so we can be on the same page,?
page 191 covers it here , under tranny
some cars have up to 4 speed sensors, 2 on engine and 2 in tranny.
so... guessing page p191 tail
there is also a backup sensor for that. so.....
post DTC error and WIN, speed sensors means zero.
my guys is net rumor told you trans shifts bad and is VSS bad?
or did you scan it and see a live error, DTC,
that be best, not rumors, (and do clean it and retest )
first know which one, then look at it, then unscrew it.
cleaning that end part, (of metal dust mud) fixes many..... hope it does on yours. all this and more in the factory service manual or the 3 top sites with same, alldata.com tops of tops.
better, why not post symtoms, did you know that ALL 1996+ jeeps in the USA< all PCMs will tell you when that sensor misfires even 1 in 10 pulses, (a fact) ask wow, its called using a scan tool correctly, ask. its super easy.

How do i install a speed sensor transmission in my jeep grand cherokee 2006
jorge is this a high-jack? and the sensors on all trans, there, uncrew, like above (early) or has a small screw on side clamp if you had looked first. youd have seen that. its just a sensor and one wired connector, you unlock conn. and remove screw and it falls out;. on all transmission.
the FSM covers this, login to alldata.com and read that page, it tells you how to remove it. all do. not need guess, the books cover all that. factory service manual or the virtual manual on like both work, (all cars,)
this is a non grand cher. post.
got 545rfe or NAG1 trans this was 42RE, so... so Jorge, (what engine size and what transmission) the newer cars some have 2 sensor, input and output, and with other sensors, as one, temperature, and pressure and speed. so, cant answer, unless you post symptoms first. and not the Easter Egg hunt.
or learn to uses jeep.com parts page,s, all 3000 parts on car are there, just look and find it. yoru self.
above is wild guess on trans.... but you can look. for free.

REMOVAL - 4.7L
The Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) on the 4.7L V–8 engine is bolted to the front/top of the right cylinder head (CMP Location—4.7L Engine).
It is easier to remove/install sensor from under vehicle.
Raise and support vehicle.
Disconnect electrical connector at CMP sensor (CMP Location—4.7L Engine).
Remove sensor mounting bolt (CMP Location—4.7L Engine).
Carefully twist sensor from cylinder head.
Check condition of sensor o-ring.
See picture for sensor location.

dont know for sure how true this is but ive always used 10w30 in them.sometimes it will tell you under the hood on the sticker with the info or your nearest oil change station has the capability to look up what the manufacturer calls for.I think all older chryslers ran 10w30 though
