I really have two issues.
1-after stopping when I start to go forward the red brake light with a (looks like) I P above it will flash on for a second then go off -I seem to have lost my car book and I have no idea what the light means now, can someone look in the book and let me know
2-when I get to 40mph the car noise goes up quite a bit, but levels out again when I go above 40 also the noise gets higher again around 60mph why is this...does it have anything to do with the tranmission(car does not shake and still rides smooth at all speeds) or is it maybe an engine problem in the works?
For problem #1 the sable has a sensor inside the cylinder(called fluid level indicator) to activate the brake light when the fluid level is low. in the 96 Sable, mercury had a recall for these cars regarding the brake light not functioning right
On problem 2, you did not specify if the noise came from the wheel area or directly under the car.
