My 1998 Toyota Corolla ran out of gas and weve towed it home since it wont stay started when cranking it? What could the problem be? The Fuel pump still humms and works?

Got the back seat out and tested the fuel pump it runs. When starting the car it starts for about 30 seconds then stops. The only other noise hear when starting it is the power steering. Those power steering hoses were changed 2 years ago though there new. If we have to repressurize the air how do we do that and where is it at?

Sounds like you have a clog in your fuel filter, its either under the hood or in line under the car...opperating a vehicle untill empty picks up all the sediment in the bottom of tank and runs it through the system where it settles in the filter and gets agitated when you try to run it again causing blockage...change that bad boy out!

I think your fuel pump is worn out although you hear the pump running it doesn't mean it pumping fuel

SOURCE: steering wheel of my Toyota Corolla LE 2007 vivrates

Hello. A vibration in the steerign wheel indicates an issue with the front tires. They are either out of balance, and would need to be rebalanced, or it is possible (although remotely) that the tire(s) may be compromised (after hitting a pothole), the belts in the tire may be corrupted. What I would suggest is to take the car to a reputable tire place, and get the balance checked. While the tire is on the balancer, the Tech will be able to see if the tire is out-of-round due to possible road damage. Probably just a tire balance problem. Thanks for choosing FixYA for assistance.

SOURCE: How do you rplace an ignition lock cylinder on a 98 toyota corolla

Crbbndt's solution is perfect. Just be aware that if you have trouble getting the new assembly back in, you may need to use a pair of long nose pliers to turn the blade inside the receiver hole back to the aux position from off. They sometimes turn them selves to the off position during the removal

SOURCE: 2003 Toyota Corolla LE back seat fold down? how?!

Open the back trunk, look near the top of the trunk, and pull the two black levers. They have a seat folding down symbol. That will release the locks to fold the back seat down.

SOURCE: Toy starts runs 10 seconds and stops change fuel filter now wont

When you tur the key forward do you hear the fuel pump running? You should hear a low hum for about 20 seconds near the gas tank and then it stops. If you hear this your pump is good. If it keeps running or you can't hear it at all it's bad or the main fuel pump fuse is blown.

Engine died while driving on the freeway, now only cranks but wont turn over/

As with any no start problem, have you checked for spark at the plugs and normal fuel pressure at the injectors ?
Does it crank with normal compression ?

2009 toyota corolla verso sr cranks but wont start

Any gas in the tank...?
Yes. Then
First check fuses. (Injector fuse, fuel pump fuse, head or main engine relay) It's not bad idea to check all fuses.

If all fuses're good (Not blow/burn)
-Next check spark and fuel.

My 1984 toyota corolla ran out of gas now it wont idle

Quick explanation of your fuel system:

An automotive fuel system consists of everything between the fuel tank and the carburetor or fuel injection unit. This includes the tank itself, all the lines, one or more fuel filters, a fuel pump (mechanical, electric, or both), and the carburetor or fuel injection unit.
With the exception of the carburetor or fuel injection unit, the fuel system is quite simple in operation. Fuel is drawn or pumped from the tank through the fuel line by the fuel pump, which forces it through the fuel filter, and from there to the carburetor/injection unit where it is distributed to the cylinders.

So with that info...try first to clean your spark plugs.
Next, replace your fuel filter.
After that, depending on a carburetor/fuel injection, try an additive that cleans the injectors. For the carburetor, try a half of can of what is called "Seafoam". It comes in a metal can available everywhere, including Walmart. It is worth the $6-8 and also will "dry" out your fuel from water. Very good product.

After that, get back to us and let us know how your Toyota is running.

90 corolla efi problem?

Classic fuel pump failure, Efi fuse runs the fuel pump now its open and it won't start. With it cranking and not starting add a little fuel to the air inlet and if it (flashes off ) ( runs a few seconds ) there's no fuel and the fuel pump is the most common cause. The pump is in the tank and unles s you feel that you as good as any pro mechanic and have the experience then let a pro do the work as the danger is high even for a pro.

Ran out of gas 90 toyota corolla fuel injection

Sounds like air in the fuel line. Try turning the key ON and pumping the gas pedal (it may take 10-15 times) and then try to start the car. You need to force gas through the fuel lines to dispel the air it was pumping when the car ran out of gas. If it doesn't work the first time, let it rest and repeat by pumping the gas. Best of luck!
