Nick, could not find a lot on this problem, possible loose ground to cluster. Check the attached links,

check your clutch and fly wheel and if it is a diesel with a turbo if you have a bit of black smoke look at that aswell most likely the clutch dual mass fly wheel
hi this could be a few things but more than likely it is either the MAF sensor or MAP sensor, these things do roughly the same thing, but the MAP also adjusts the timing through the ECM , either one would cause this to "over fuel" and not burn correctly, the starting place would be try the MAF first as this is the common one, make sure spark plugs have been changed as this also will help, if you still get a fail, then try the MAP sensor...hope this helps good luck..
it is always a good idea to stay with o.e.m parts and yes there is updated parts in the newer coils. and yes the M.A.F will also cause misfire faults but will not make check engine light flash or make car shake and shudder. also check you wire harness going to your coils make sure your ground wires are not cracked. That could be the main culprate. good luck hope this helps
The engine could be shot, oil is being burnt off by the actions of being sucked into the bores via worn piston rings then ejected out of the exhaust
If you sent the car in for an MOT and a Service I would ask the garage what they did to it as the car would have failed on its emissions test if that much oil was coming out .
It could have been a fault on the oil pump or lack of oil in the first instance and maybe an overfill on the service
Internal oil leak, change the spark plugs and cables, oil, filter and add Lucas oil. Take the car for inspection and let me know how it goes. For the belt depends where you get the parts and who does the work.
I bought a 2000 polo 1.4 yesterday after having an MOT. The warning lamp came on today but the car is running fine. Whether its the Lambda sensor or just the light itself is a common fault, I think garages turn off the lights to get it through the MOT then they come on again in a day or two!
could be a bent valve but all depends how much da car means to you if you want to keep your car bring to a local garage or specialest ask them or bring it to a place where dat modify cars and ask them how much dont always go on 1 garage quote shop around and pull a fella in a garage to the side and ask em would he do u a favour as an nixer to do the job and see want he says come bak to me if notin happens
Had the coils replaced, but one coil on one cylinder has failed 3 times.
