Heater core leaking. It will cause low coolent levels, moisture on the glass that won't go away. Green liquid leaking from under dash, wet floorboards. Hissing sounds when car is turned off coming from behind the dash. You may have some or all of the above symptoms.
My wife honda Accord 1996 have the same problem, it was the hose from the radiator to the engine leaking when the pressure goes up after a while. a new hose fixed the problem.
If the rad hoses and heater hoses are more then 5 years old it could be leaking from any one of them. The pressure build up when the engine is stopped. I would use a coolant flush, change the antifreeze, all the other hoses and use bars leak to seal any small leaks
really this could be one of several issues, does the vehicle run Hot, are you having to fill the reservoir with water or coolant, there is a hose that runs from the cap (overflow hose) to the reservoir, in addition to the upper and lower hoses, finally the water pump. the water pump is equipped with weep holes, which allow fluid to weep out when the pump is bad. finally the thermostat, hopefully one of these can solve your issue, good luck!
SInce your car is approaching 20 yrs of age, it's not surprising that the heater core could be clogged. I assume you have checked for a half-shut inline heater valve (if there is one.) HEre's how to test for the clogged core:
locate two rubber hoses going into firewall and clamped to two pipes protruding therefrom. These are your hoses to the heater core and the spouts running in and out of it. Disconnect the two hoses at some place convenient if not at firewall. Then run water hose into one of these tubes. If you have any backflow, or restriction, then you need a heater core.
If this is not a clogged core, BE SURE your hot/cold cable is pulling it's door or valve to the full hot position. Trace it under dash.
you knwo it maybe jsut from yourr aircon that mixes with the dirt on the way down. . . . did you get under the car to check where its coming from? or maybe radiator fluid? cuz all the other fluids are sticky . .
on passager side near the console under dash our gonna see a black plastic with a plastic snap remove that un der that the hot cold vent that cable is probably bend remove that cable and manualy move the trap heat will stop comming in or you can have a jam water valve under hood near firewall passager side hope it a fixya pierre
