Buick shakes, guns then almost stops

1993 Buick LaSabre. Out on road at 70mph, tried to put on cruise control, didn't work at first, then it did. Then car started to shake like road very bumpy then lost power then power came back. Check engine light came on. Dial about transmission usually never goes over 3, shot up past 4, then down again.

I also have a 93 lesabre and it will start to feel like on a bumpy road and check engine light comes on but when I pull over and shut off the car and start again it is fine , dont know if it is related but it is very hard to keep running till the engine warms up

This sounds very much like a torque converter/transmission issue. i will assume the transmission dial you're speaking of is the tachometer? which measures engine revolutions per minute. to confirm, one could possibly unplug 4-wire connector on transmission near radiator and test drive. this keeps the transmission from going into torque converter lock-up.

Could be low fuel pressure from a weak pump or clogged fuel filter. Check fuel pressure with key on, engine off-it should be 40-47 psi.

Rough Idle while stopped and low speeds

heve utried adjusting the trottle , just put your foot on the accelerater and hold at just under 1000 revs if shaking goes then thats your problem should idle at just under 1000rpm

97 buick lasabre trans slips in overdrive

Either the cruise control is going out or the torque converter clutch circuit is going out on the trannys overdrive. Do you have check engine light codes? If so you will need to have a computer hooked up to read them. Darrel coleman also has a problem with his car like this and I have suggested the same thing to him

The cruise control off and on switch

the cruise control switch comes out of the steering wheel. you can use a small flat head screw driver to unwedge it from is hole in the steering wheel. there will be a wire attached to the back, lift the clip holding it the wire to the switch. installation is the reverse.
