Hi Suzie:
Check this diagrams, according with your engine size...
1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2 liter V-8 VIN "Y"
1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 liter L6 VIN "S"
Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate
your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice day.
Testimonial: "thank you very helpful and it worked"
Your weolcome Suzie, thank you for your comment.
If the vehicle has plenty of power, I would say the pump pressure and volume is good. If the engine is not missing, I would say your ignition is good.
Let me know if this is close. When your foot is off the accelerator, the vehicle wants to stall. It will restart, bit when in gear, you have to granny it out of a stand still. Once driving, it runs like a scalded cat. If this is the case, Clean the throttle body and remove the IAC {Idle Air Control Valve} and clean it also. The IAC takes up the idle when your foot is off the accelerator. It allows air to bypass the throttle place and is controlled by the PCM. There is NO ADJUSTMENT. Only a reset and a scan tool is needed.
If this only stalls when coming out of a higher gear and dies like the transmission id stuck in a higher gear when stopping, next step would be to visit a trany shop.
I am putting my bet on the IAC sticking. Oh, it is located on the throttle body.
