A slipping transmission occurs when a transmission's gear sets fail to engage or synchronize properly. This significantly reduces the ability to drive the vehicle and can lead to premature automatic transmission failure if not corrected promptly.

I have already put a new transmission in my 2002

by new do you mean new or used new. as a used new trans may have the same problem. if its new go back to the place you bought it from and see what they will do for you under warranty. did you get the original trans problem checked out at a trans shop or just assume it was the trans. it maybe time to have it checked out at a reputable trans shop.

My 2002 gmc envoy goes through all the gears except slips in third

Its the overdrive sensor 3rd gear you will slip with 4speed band trans
This overdrive gear setting if your sensor is not kicking in then you are due for trans maintenance as 3rd gear is shredding slowly away learned this from dirt track quarter mile super stock racing pray that your gear is intact as a trans shop with micro snake cam can only determine the length of time you have on your gears and trans inspections are free threw amco certified shops

Transmission slips

Hi there,

About the transmission slipping, which I have heard several complaints about, it might be an improper gear ratio code pop up and a gear slipping code popup. I would like to know in what gear it actually slips.

A common problem is also that the servo bores wear out and the servo piston gets cocked and breaks or the band just burns up.This could also be your gear ratio error. The fix is to drill out the servo bores and sleeve them. If you get an overhaul, which I believe any dealership you take it to would advise you to do, make sure they do that whether it needs it or not. If you can find a used trans that is extremely low mileage then I would buy it. A real low mileage trans will be very clean(bolts still shiny).

Hope this helps...

Putting car into reverse after having driven short

You need a new Pressure Control Solenoid Body. 9L2Z7G391A -solenoid pack for a 5R55S Trans. $332.20. at Trans Parts supplier. Don't even call a Lincoln Dealer for a price. They wouldn't even deal with me because I have a sales tax ID, and ask too many question. They will screw you over big time. That's a common problem in a long list of LS issues, my wife has one also and I used to have a Trans Repair Shop. It will slam into Reverse cold, Slip or flair on 3 to 4 Shift. Also expect the EGR Valve to go bad and make the trans issue even harder to troubleshoot, untill it works correctly. Drop the tran pan, remove about 7 screws and change the solenoid body. Best bet, go to a trans shop, never a dealer. Also get the old fluid out of there and put Mecon V in ,with a bottle of Red Lubgard Additive.

it either blew the trans or more likely there is not fluid left in it. look for a huge leak such as a cooler line or front seal leak. that whine is bad,its the hydro pump in the trans burning up, dont slip the trans! itll take about 30 seconds of that and its fried
