After many attempts I found the method in the madness.
The key must be in and turned as far as it will go without starting the engine. Hold down the menu button, scroll to 'set time'Set hour, minutes, date, scroll all the way to the end then press menu for changes to be saved. Now when you start the engine the clock settings should remain as you set them.
The above is assuming you have no power connection faults.
Check the owners manual. Or call the dealership

There is no user repair procedure for this problem, the factory repair manual says REMOVE PLAYER FOR REPAIR BY AN AUTHORIZED FORD ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS REPAIR CENTER.
FixYa.com claims they have factory repair manuals, they have nothing of the sort, this is not to say some experts may have manuals, we do, but we work from home and in most cases have a small library. Experts are not employed by FixYa.com, we help free of charge as much as we can with the general automotive knowledge we have learned while working as auto technicians, specific test values, repair procedures and illustrations are unique to each car line, these are not in most cases available to us. Thanks for using FixYa!
