Hello? I'm installing a new CD player on my cousins 97 Chevy Venture, except there is one problem. The factory installed stereo dosen't have a wiring diagram with it. I can't tell which wires to connect to make to speakers work and I don't want to damage her new stereo by trying test the wires either. I tried all night to find a wiring diagram but the only closest thing I came to was a 97 Chevy Astro van and I'm assuming that they may have the same stereo system and so they Astro diagram might work? Can you tell me if the factory wiring diagram for the Astro would work? If that is not possible then can you show me where I can find a free one for the 97 Venture because to download? I don't use credit cards on the internet so if you could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Thank you for your time.
Your installing an aftermarket cd player in place of factory radio?
it would be best to buy the harness adapters. they plug into the factory harness and will tell you what all the wires are. harness is usually only 10-15 dollars. here is the diagram also.
right click on picture and save it then you should be able to blow up
BLACK/WHITE IS GROUND
ORANGE WILL BE HOT ALL THE TIME
YELLOW WILL BE HOT IN ACC POSITION
SPEAKERS:
LEFT FRT GRAY WIRE AND TAN WIRE
RT FRT DARK GREEN WIRE LIGHT GREEN WIRE
RIGHT REAR DK BLUE WIRE AND LT BLUE WIRE
LEFT REAR YELLOW WIRE BROWN WIRE
THIS SHOULD BE ALL WIRES YOU NEED TO HOOK UP
No problem good luck
wire will be fine the 6gauge is bigger and can handle more power i would ground somewhere else need a good ground to the body since the seats latch in might not give you the ground you need

The diagram needs to be a little larger because I can't read all the lettering but I'll find a way to read it
I right clicked on the diagram and tried to blow it up, but the graphics on the diagram are to poor because it just gets more blurry the more I try to focus in on it.
Thanks, that makes alot of sense now. It is the same way on the 97 Astro diagram exactely as you mentioned it. Thanks again.
I have one more question before I go. Actually 2 questions. I'm also installing a kicker amplifier to go with the CD player. However, when we bought the wiring harness from the store it said the harness was for a 1200 watt amp. The Kicker is a 550 watt amp, but when I read the installation manual on the Kicker amp, it said to use an 8 gauge power cable. The wire harness we purchased had a 6 gauge power wire, but it said it would work for a 1200 watt amplifier. Will this 6 gauge wire for a 1200 watt amplifier work for a 550 watt amplifier that recommends the use of an 8 gauge wire? And lastly, the ground wire that came with the amplifier said to connect it to the chasis closest to the amplifier, and so the ground wire was pretty short, like 2 feet because they said the shorter the better. But the only place I could connect to was to a hole on the seat frame (the seats are removable by pulling the latch and lifting) and I scraped the paint off and I may end up trying this. Is this safe? Will the amp work? And can this cause damage to the amplifier?
