My jeep cherokee sport will not start what do I check first?

I have replaced the battery, starter, sensor, spark plugs, distributor cap and my jeep still will not start. First it started by the wipers, heater, and radio starting only sometimes so I replaced the fuses. After I replaced the fuses it stop starting. It does not even click or make any kinda noise.

In a 96 Jeep not many sensors are involved. Basically Fuel and spark delivery at right time should start car if your Starter is able to crank the Engine.
If engine is cranking then the battery is Okay. Check Spark directly at the spark plugs and fuel pressure at the fuel rail. You may pull out one spark plug and check spark out of engine.
Try spraying Starting fluid in Air Intake while cranking. If Jeep starts then not enough fuel is being delivered by fuel pump. If you find no spark at plugs then check circuit for starter relay, Crank sensor/cam sensor problems.
A kill switch or bad Alarm system can also cause this problem.

I am having a similar problem. But I cannot get a spark. Engine cranks but without a spark the engine won't start right ? I'm am doing my best to troubleshoot step by step but for the life of me cannot find a service manual for my 1996 Jeep Cherokee XJ, 2.5L, 4 cylinder, 5 speed ,Manual transmission, 2 wheel drive 2 door SE model ? Am leaning towards ECM because I replaced crank shaft sensor, bought a new coil but still no spark ? Does anyone have a step by step from beginning to end for my XJ. Because I can't even find videos for a four cylinder cherokee manual transmission ? I'm not the rich enough to keep buying parts I don't need. Any info would help ? Diagrams , videos, links , manuals , anything. I'm more then willing to get my hands dirty. I have been to quite a few wrecking yards looking for my XJs ECM. I'm finding out that almost every other year besides 1996 is very common. And the motors on 100 % of the ones that I have seen are 6 cylinder. Any suggestions. The motor is still strong. Before this issue Jeep was running good. I did have to jump one of my injectors. With help of course. I guess I'm in denial. I'm going to order the ECM. But am afraid that if that doesn't fix my problem I'm all out of $$$ and out of answers. I'm just just thinking out loud I guess. I will post my results when I get ECM hopefully by 02/16/18. Thanks.

SOURCE: 199 Jeep cherokee stalls without warning

Does it start right back up after it stalls? make sure all conections are tight at fuel pump, sounds like it could be loosing ground at pump, or hot lead is loosing its connection at pump. Also fuel pump relay could be getting hot and quits working.

SOURCE: jeep cherokee sport, engine wont start unless worm.

Check the temperature sensor...it tells the computer when it's cold, and changes fuel mixture accordingly. (same as a choke used to do)
Just curious...If it only starts warm, how do you get it warm???

SOURCE: spark plug wire position on distributor cap

1-5-3-6-2-4
ALL Jeep 4.0 motors use this firing order. Any year, any model, high output or not.

Also, the spark plug wire placement on the cap, in a clockwise direction from the post nearest the engine block is: 6-2-4-1-5-3.(to the left side of the number 6 post, there should be a hold downscrew or strap for fastening the distributor cap to the distributor.

I have a 1996 Jeep Grand cherokee with the 5.2l v-8 engine. Last week I started it, and it ran for about 1 minute before shutting off. The engine cranks, but no ignition. I replaced the Crankshaft position...

Time to meter voltage. Start with the 12V circuit. Are you getting voltage at the coil. Does the voltage fluctuate when the engine cranks? If yes to both check the high voltage circuit. Start with the coil then the distributor then each plug. You should be able to find where the spark is failing.

1989 jeep cherokee wont start

Well you have several other components that would need to be tested.
Are you not getting spark from the coil, or from the coil but not to the plugs ?
You have a sensor in the distributor that provides a ground signal to the ignition module, that fires the coil. Then the spark goes from the coil to the distributor cap, then to the plugs.

I have a 93 jeep grand cherokee larado have replaced alternator, starter, battery, coil, still has no spark got power to everything coil has power at it but nothing comes out of it repaced cap and rotor...

The only thing left to replace would be the electronic trigger module which is mounted inside the distributor. If this module is bad it won't switch the coil on and off to produce spark.

i had the same problem with my 92 cherokee laredo, could be the crank positioning sensor. if it goes bad you dont get spark from the coil. or it could be the coil, distributor, or even spark plugs.
