Several possibilities, including blockage in coolant tubes of radiator, damaged or slipping impeller on water pump, blockage of air flow through radiator, inoperative radiator fan(s), damaged head or head gasket...

Does the radiator fan come on? If not, problem could be bad temp sensor or fan motor or wiring.

if its the 6 pot in line engine then its a cast head and the torque will be around 75lbs ,if its pushing water then iam afraid the head will need further examination like its warped or the water ports have opened up due to corrosion where its had no antifreeze .Or you have damaged the gasket putting the head on and open up to it as we have all done even the best of mechanics

Buy a gasket kit for the upper end. Remove the valve cover intake and exhaust manifolds. Remove the head bolts. Remove head and clean up block from old gasket material. Take the head to a machinist and make sure that it is not warped. If it is warped either replace the head with a new one or have it machined true. Install new gasket and get torque specs with new head bolts and follow torque sequence using the correct torque specs. Clean exhaust, intake and valve cover of old gaskets. install new gaskets and torque according to specifications.

Torque sequence ------------------ front | 12 8 4 1 5 9 13 | of | | engine | 11 7 3 2 6 10 14 | ------------------ Final torque must be reached in 3 equal steps Step 1: torque all bolts (except bolt 11) to 110 Ft/Lbs Step 2: torque bolt 11 to 100 Ft/Lbs Recheck final torque in sequence.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the cooling system.
3. Disconnect the hoses at the thermostat housing.
4. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
5. Remove the cylinder head cover.
6. Loosen the rocker arms.
7. Remove the pushrods.

The valvetrain components must be replaced in their original positions.

1. Remove the intake and exhaust manifold from the cylinder head.
2. Disconnect the spark plug wires and remove the spark plugs.
3. Disconnect the temperature sending unit wire, ignition coil and bracket assembly from the engine.
4. Remove the accessory drive belt(s).
5. Unbolt and set aside the power steering pump and bracket. Do not disconnect the hoses.
6. Remove the intake and exhaust manifold assembly.
7. If equipped with A/C, perform the following:
   1. Remove the compressor and position it aside with the lines attached.
   2. Remove the compressor bracket bolts from the cylinder head.
   3. Loosen the through bolt at the bottom of the bracket.
   
   
8. Remove the alternator.
9. Remove the cylinder head bolts, the cylinder head and gasket from the block.

Bolt No. 14 cannot be removed until the head is moved forward. Pull the bolt out as far as it will go and suspend in place by wrapping with tape.

1. Discard the gasket. Thoroughly clean the head-to-block mating surface.
2. Clean and inspect the cylinder head thoroughly. Refer to the engine reconditioning portion outlined later in this section.

To install:

1. Coat a new head gasket with suitable sealing compound and place it on the block. Most replacement gaskets will have the word TOP stamped on them.

Apply sealing compound only to the cylinder head gasket. Do not allow sealing compound to enter the cylinder bore.

try aviation gasket maker / messy but stops leaks .make sure you have all surfaces clean no debris stuck on them and the right thermostat that fits and the proper gaskets or o ring and a little avaition gasket glue should cure the problem . leaks require patience :) gl

the torque is a 4 step process

1 torque all bolts to 22 ft/lbs
2 torque all bolts to 45 ft/lbs
3 recheck all bolts to 45 ft/lbs
4 torque bolts 1 thru 10 to 110 ft/lbs
bolt 11 to 100 ft/lbs
bolts 12 thru 14 to 110 ft/lbs
bolt #1 is the fourth bolt from the front on the passenger side....#2 is the fourth bolt on the drivers side then you continue in a clockwise order

your best bet would be to go to a local parts store and purchase a Haynes manual for your specific vehicle, this will give you step by step instructions as well as all the required torque specs. The Haynes manuals are around $ 25.00 canadian. hope this helps you.

your head gasket is gone....this will require a new gasket and the head to be skimmed.....dont be wasting money on anthin else
