My car keeps losing power. The revs drop and the engine diagnostic light comes on. It picks up again and drives normally, for a short while. Diagnostic tests don't show anything? Any ideas
OMG! I have the same problem, I have had various parts changed and a full service but this problem just won't go away, what the hell is it, my mechanic seems to be baffled!OMG! If the revs are limited, then it is in Limp Mode for a serious issue. You need to connect a Code Reader and check the Diagnostic Trouble Codes. Garages will read them for free in the hope of getting the work. Write the codes down and come back to this post.
I have a 2.4 diesel 375 nm model and i have been told that the problem is solved by installing the correct fuel filter. Mine loses all power and stops, and the curly light comes on, and I switch it off and start it again. It works every time but is bloody dangerous on a hill when passing someone and towing a trailer.
you car is fitted with a "no fuel"system,so when you take your foot off "no fuel" goes to the engine untill it reaches 1200 revs.then it will allow fuel to flow to keep tickover/smoothness.(its computer controlled)you need to get your car onto the diagnostic computer,(skoda/seat/vw/audi)so you have the codes/items that need to be sorted. The tdi engine was one of the first engines that VW computerised and it is very reliable/powerful,compared to the peugeot/citroen engine.(briefly, the fault is not just a switch/cable),
I have had the almost same problem twice. A 'thump', like the engine missed a fire and tach drops. Seems OK after restart. Electrical? Timing chain slip? Has 135,000 mile. Any clues?
