Car trouble Car not starting. ON dash board following lights are on: rear light faliure, low engine oil level, ABS, low washer fluid & Discharge (battery) Warning Light. All of the above (apart from ABS) have been checked, i.e. have topped up fluids for washer fluid and engine oil. Power steering turns on and off on sharp bends. Steering becomes difficult on bends. And finally right side speakers are not functioning. Please advise me of what I should do.

1998 Chevrolet Malibu 54k miles - replaced fuel pump assembly & now some dash warning lights and clock stay on. Any ideas?

Replacing a fuel pump has nothing to do with instrument cluster lights or the clock staying on. Unless you shorted wires , did you disconnect the negative battery cable before hand ?
The body control module (BCM) performs the following functions:
• A/C compressor request
• A/C cooling fan
• Exterior and interior lighting control
- Daytime running lights (DRL)
- Automatic lighting control
- Fog lamps
- Interior lighting
• Battery rundown
• Chime
• Gauge control
• Instrument cluster indicator control
• Fuel gauge control
• Temperature gauge control
• Theft deterrent
Interpreting all of the driver warnings sent by the control modules on the class 2 serial data line
Sending the information to the instrument cluster in the form of a SPI serial data bus message
The following list of messages are sent by the BCM to the instrument cluster:
• Fuel gauge position
• Temperature gauge position
• Oil pressure
• Low engine coolant
• Check oil
• Volts
• ABS
• High beam
• Low fuel
• High temperature
• Washer fluid level low
• CRUISE
• BRAKE
• SERVICE VEHICLE SOON
• Door ajar
• Seat belt
• THEFT SYSTEM
• PRNDL
Check the fuel level sensor wires , the fuel level sensor is a input to the BCM .

It illuminates signs in dushboard.what could be the problems

first check your battery and cables... a dying battery and/ or corroded, loose cables may be the cause all those problems

If you don't have the owner's manual, you can get a PDF file of it from a USA ford website: Google search 2005 ford focus owners manual

The battery light means bad battery, alternator, or wires

Oil light means low oil level, bad oil sensor or bad wire to sensor

Abs light, check brakes or wiring to speed sensors or abs computer

Orange check engine light, a sensor or other electrical part has failed or wire broken to that sensor. You will need an obd2 scanner to find out trouble codes!

But, if ALL OF THE LIGHTS ARE ON while car is running, you really need to check and make sure the battery and charging system is OK FIRST

Red spanner warning light

Brake Light. Make sure you are not driving with hand brake on. Check brake-fluid level. Top off brake fluid if low and make appointment to check brakes. Driving with brake light can be dangerous; deal with this soon. Call tow truck or drive carefully and slowly to shop.
ABS (antilock brake system) Light. Indicates either low brake-fluid level, stuck brake caliper or faulty ABS. Check brake fluid and make appointment to get brakes checked. Call tow truck or drive carefully and slowly to shop.
Oil Light. Either engine is very low on oil or there is no oil pressure. Pull over and turn off engine immediately. Check oil level and add oil if low. Turn engine back on to see if light has gone off. If oil light is still on, bad oil pump (no oil pressure) is likely. Call tow truck.
Check Engine Light. Car's computer senses engine problem. Difference in performance may not be noticeable, but make appointment to have car diagnosed. This usually cost around $65-$75 to do. OK to drive. If problem is serious, computer may switch to limp-home (low-power) mode and you won't have option of waiting to bring car into shop.
Air Bag Light. Get air bags checked. Problem could prevent them from activating in accident. OK to drive, but not safe in accident.
Battery Charge Light. Alternator is not charging. OK to drive, but turn off any unneeded electrical devices (radio, heater, defroster) and avoid starting engine more than necessary. Bring car into shop soon to avoid getting stranded. When alternator is not charging, battery loses charge and car stops working.
Emissions Lights (O2 sensor, EGR, check emissions). Depending on car model, these lights may indicate problem with emissions sensor or may light up at certain mileage, usually 60,000 miles (100,000 km). Get sensors checked. OK to drive. If problem exists, car might get poor gas mileage.

HOW TO GET RID OF THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS ON DASH

Hello, welcome to Fixya!

The ABS and brake lights on your dash board is cause by low brake fluid/oil level. When the brake fluid/level of your vehicle is low, the ABS light and brake light will appear on your dash board, indicating that it needs to be checked.

So open your bonnet and check the brake fluid/oil and make sure it is not low. The brake fluid/oil is the first that needs to be checked in a situation like this.

If the above appears not to be the problem, please let me know.

Regards.

2001 Chevy Cavalier computer problem

A red light on the dashboard can mean you should stop driving right away, or you may have a little time before you have to bring your car into the shop. Know what's what so you don't get stuck.
  1. Critical Warning Lights
    • 1 Brake Light. Make sure you are not driving with hand brake on. Check brake-fluid level. Top off brake fluid if low and make appointment to check brakes. Driving with brake light can be dangerous; deal with this soon. Call tow truck or drive carefully and slowly to shop.
    • 2 ABS (antilock brake system) Light. Indicates either low brake-fluid level, stuck brake caliper or faulty ABS. Check brake fluid and make appointment to get brakes checked. Call tow truck or drive carefully and slowly to shop.
    • 3 Oil Light. Either engine is very low on oil or there is no oil pressure. Pull over and turn off engine immediately. Check oil level and add oil if low. Turn engine back on to see if light has gone off. If oil light is still on, bad oil pump (no oil pressure) is likely. Call tow truck.
    Maintenance Lights
    • 1 Check Engine Light.
    • 2 Air Bag Light. Get air bags checked. Problem could prevent them from activating in accident. OK to drive, but not safe in accident.
    • 3 Battery Charge Light. Alternator is not charging. OK to drive, but turn off any unneeded electrical devices (radio, heater, defroster) and avoid starting engine more than necessary. Bring car into shop soon to avoid getting stranded. When alternator is not charging, battery loses charge and car stops working.
    • 4 Emissions Lights (O2 sensor, EGR, check emissions). Depending on car model, these lights may indicate problem with emissions sensor or may light up at certain mileage, usually 60,000 miles (100,000 km). Get sensors checked. OK to drive. If problem exists, car might get poor gas mileage.

ABS light on in my 2005 Mazda Tribute. Just had an oil change and tire rotated. Also steam cleaned the engine yesterday. The brake fluid is low. I will try filling that.

You do not steam clean any engines from
1985 on, or you will have problems with water
intruding electical connectors & more

Brake fluid won't be low
As the pads wear & caliper piston moves out,
fluid level goes down, not an issue

The ABS light you should already know is a Vehicle
System Malfunction & we have had those or similar
lights on the dash of all vehilces for 30 years
So nothing new at all. Check for codes, diagnose &
have the ABS Braking System repaired
