I have a 2000 Carolla. The fan motor for the heater/air conditioner is making a lot of noise and is not blowing air into the passenger compartment. How difficult is it for a home attempt at fixing. Eg. Can I replace the heater motor or do I have to take it to a dealer. If I have to take it to a dealer what is the dealer cost to repair. Do you have a suggestion about other online resources.

Make sure the fan air intake is not obstructed before you do anything.

Check your car fan rotation, it should be moving in clock wise direction. If it is on anti-clock wise direction swap the cable, neagtive to positive and vise verse.

Check the wire connections at the blower motor and fan resistor, they are located under dash on passenger side. They sometimes have corrosion that burns the plastic connector. The resistor is responsible for all fan speeds below high. Hope this helps, let me know.

Sounds like you need to replace the blower motor or something might be stuck in the fan of the blower motor.

Fan/motor clicking noise with my Skoda superb 2003, 2.5L

Yeah there is a fuse under the dash board on the driver side. But if you take it out your heater and air conditioner want work. you can remove the dash panel on the passenger side and oil the blow motor and it will not make it noise.

MY AC/HEATER DOES NOTHING WHEN YOU TURN IT ON. IT DOESNT BLOW AT ALL.

While parked with the hood raised, start the engine and turn on your a/c. Check to make sure your cooling fans are running. If they are, I would look into the blower motor for the passenger compartment blower. This is what causes the air to enter the vehicle. You could have a damper door that is not allowing it to blow into the passenger compartment as well.

Heater fan blowing intermittently or not at all

Most likely it does, if you can hit the motor and it will run. I can't say for sure but you might want to chk. to see if you got a heater blower motor resister. There located (if its got one) around the heater motor and it controls blower speeds, might be worth checking out.
