SOURCE: code p72o & p1618 &p1633 on my s80

the P720 (which i'm guessing is suppose to be a P0 or 170 means its transmission related...i dont know what the 20 stands for thats the exact specific code/problem but it gives you an idea...the two P1600 codes are Manufactur made and they are both about PCM-Auxiliary Devices..

So i'm guessing that the one that is making your car not move is the P700 code..

hope that gets you started

SOURCE: There are 4 codes I need to know about P0810,

810 neutral check, incorrect connection

  • Check the transmission and control module connectors. Check for contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent faults
  • 1132 front o2 sensor signal too high
1618 dtc is in another module
Volvo does not provide information regarding DTC P1633 for many of their models.
However, it has been reported that various Volvo engine control modules will produce this code. The code is associated with a missing or inaccurate vehicle speed signal from the ABS control module and may be accompanied by DTC P0722 or P1618.

    Possible causes:
    - Defective vehicle speed signal to the ABS control module
    - CAN connection problem
    - Defective ABS control module
    - Defective engine control module

Manufacture codes associated with this P code may include ECM-510f, 530d.

2001 volvo s60 failed accelerator pedal position sensor, p1633

This sounds like the ever familiar ABS modulator failing. However, VADIS doesn't list a OEM code with P1633 (it goes from 1632 to 1635). The 16xx codes normally relate to CAN bus or an individual controller. All ABS warning lights go through the ABS module, which is why you are seeing all three of those lit up.

I put the computer on my volvo v70 n i have this code ..p0460,p1618,p0722,p1550 and i like to know what r they and how can i fick them cuz i need to pass the inspection to get it register . in the dasboard...

Per other sites I've seen these 2 codes p1618,p0722, are your ABS module. It can be taken out and re soldered and will work fine. Many Volvo mechanics know how to do this or you can find a repair service on Ebaymotors possibly. My guy charges me $150. Supposedly you can even drive the car without the module installed but you won't have abs so don't expect to stop as you usually would with a correctly working ABS. Your tires will now skid old school instead of the abs module taking over and pullsing your brake pedal, etc.

I have a 200 Volvo s80. last week when my wife started it, all the lights came on... stc, brake failure, check engine light, brake light..they all are on and i cant seem to find the problem.. can someone...

I have a similar problem, I am going to assume that most of the lights have gone out and you are left with the check engine and a transmission service message. Check the OBD for the error codes and see what they say. If they are P0722, P1618, P1633 it is likely your ABS module. This module appears to have a life span of 5 years to 80,000 miles average before it needs to be replaced. Other symptoms of a bad module would be that the ABS light comes on while driving down the road. Than goes out on the next engine restart or two. Victor Rocha is reconditioning ABS modules for $125.00 and upgrading them to better than factory. There are instructions on the web of where and how to remove the ABS module. This is better than the dealer's new module for $995.00 plus installation.

Similar - all ABS, STC, check engine lights, car rough running

Since I do not understand your "won't drive", I will suggest this. If before this problem your ABS light would come on and than it would go out after you restart your engine. The problem might be the ABS module. If you can read the OBD error codes you likely will have P0722, P1618 and P1633. A message that says the transmission needs service. From what I have found on the web is replacing the ABS module will correct the problem. It appears that the ABS module has a life of 5 years to 80,000 miles on average. Volvo networks a lot of its computer information thru the ABS, thus a bad ABS can indicate a bad transmission. I am told that Auto Zone auto parts can read the error codes for you. But they may require you to being your car to their stop. You can also purchase your own ODB II reader from and auto parts store or Sears. Hope that helps.
