1995 toyota celica starts up when cold and will run until i get wherever i need to go. Then if i shut off and try to restart it doesnt make any clicking noise and wont try to turnover until cold.

Battery is new and fuel pump and everything is good. may be slight problem with oil as well but would not cause this not even attempting to turnover. all help is appreciated

So when your engine is hot the starter won't engage. Try cleaning and tightening the wires that are bolted to your starter first. You want bare shiny metal to metal at all your connections. Take care when unbolting the wires because you could strip or break the studs on the solenoid. If this doesn't help then I would say the solenoid is going bad and will need to be replaced. It's usually a good idea to replace the starter and solenoid as one unit. Hope this helps.

turns out it was the neutral safety switch. checked everything and we were getting power to the starter only when i moved the car from park to neutral and wiggled it a bit.

Faulty engine temperature sensor ?? On a cold start the temperature sensor should detect a cold engine and give a signal to the ecu to increase fuel ratio until the engine has warmed up. sounds like faulty sensor to me.

when everything is cold the transmission fluid is thicker and so lubricates better, there are additives or thickeners that you can add which will probably help. go to parts store and tell them you have an old tranny that needs a little help and they will point you in the right direction.

Fan inside engine doesnt turn around

When you add something like a CAI, you change the dynamics of the engine. The computer is constantly monitoring the fuel, air, heat, etc ratios. You are playing with years and years of engineering that went into the car. You will probably need to get the computer reprogrammed to accomidate the modification.

1988 Celica GT Cold start problem and smoke on startup

blue smoke is evidence of oil burning and is most likely valve seals. this can be done on most cars with head still on by applying air to the cylinders this keeps valves up while spring is removed
