There is a 'dampener' on the steering box- it is a nut that surrounds a bolt (I think it has a allen head)-loosen the surround bolt and tighten the bolt, it dampens the recirculating ball in the steering box. Other than that, steering linkage parts and proper tire alignment are the only other factors that determine 'play' or lack thereof-the steering box can also have slop in it that might require either a rebuild or replacement.

How to fix play on tata xenon 3l dicor power steering unit

Most power steering units have two adjusters--one one the lower end for main bearing adjustment, but the one on top (just like manual steering boxes) is all you usually need to adjust. With front end jacked up and engine running adjust screw inward until drag is felt in steering wheel with wheels pointing straight ahead, then loosen just a touch until no bind is felt as steering is turned back and forth through center of steering.

My mustang 95 steering wheel moves like a1/2 an inch to the left and to the right when the engine is off how I can fix or adjustment,by the way,I changed the inner tie rod

This is the PLAY in the steering box and can be adjusted to minimise in the penumatic section.
Tighten the tie rods ends and ccheck for any play in either ends. If not the play is from the steering column to the rack . You can tighten to make it fit closer BUT do not over tighten.
Now start the car and check the movement to either side.
If needs trimming do so , stop engine adjust and try again. Check for fluid in the system.

Hi, How do you adjust float in steering wheel is it done at steering box or is there another trick Thanks Chris

WHat do you mean by "float in steering wheel"? Do you mean play at the steering wheel? If so, there probably are no adjustments on that car. Some older cars used steering boxes which could be adjusted, but Every Hyundai I've ever seen used rack and pinion steering which is usually not adjustable. You should check for play in the whole system. Have someone rock the steering wheel back and forth and look at the steering components to see if there is any play in them. If it is rack and pinion, hold your hand on the boots that are on either side while the wheel is being rocked to check for play in the inner tie rod ends. Replace any parts with play in them.

Power steering pump seems shot, the car moans whenever i turn the steering wheel

If it is been shot and it moans ,there is a possibility that the problem is in adjusting the steering wheel of the car to free play. There fore the owner of the car should be able to adjust steering wheel free play.Prepare the tools and equipment for adjusting steering wheel free play . So that when the steering free play is adjusted , no parts is, no parts are lost or broken. This is what should be done ,first you have to locate steering system assembly, locate the gear box ,check the steering wheel free play, adjust steering wheel free play, observe safety rules .But if you don't have time to do the job then you have to go to a car shop mechanic let the mechanic to do the job

1998 Ford 150 steering play

2-3" is a lot of play really. I would do the gear box adjustment and see if you can at least half that. That can not be fun to drive that way. If it comes back to reasonable play easily I would not worry about it unless it goes back to loose after the adjustment. I would plan for a steering box replacement in the future if this fails to adjust back to spec. How long will yours last? If I told you then I might be lying. :)
