Look under the passenger side of the dash. There will be a plastic trim panel that will need to be removed. Once its out of the way you will see the blower motor. The resistor will be just to the drivers side of the blower motor.

98 buick heater stop working

Its faulty blower motor resistor. The low and medium speed on blower motor is controlled by resistor and its actual speed is high. So because resistor is not working, blower motors actual speed which is high is working.

It can be faulty blower motor or faulty blower motor resistor. Get the blower motor inspected. If it's faulty it has to be replaced.

Heater / air conditioner fan control doesn't engage fan. Previously, it only worked in high speed.

I would replace the blower motor resistor first then see if that corrects this. The resistor is located next to the blower motor under the dash.

The fan speed switch for the heater/ac will not work on the two lowest speeds, only med to high. Went to a salvage yard and got a replacement one, it does the same thing. Apparently there is something...

You need to get the blower motor resistor replaced. This is your problem. It is located by the blower motor. There will be a connector from the blower to the resistor. The resistor controls the fan speeds when you turn the knob on the control head. The blower motor is on the passengers side under the dash.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Heater fan motoer only works on high setting?

many of the heater blowers use a resistor type switch to adjust the fan speeds, when the switch goes bad only the high speed will work. the resistor is usually located in the airflow in the heater box under the dash. find it , change it (it just plugs in) and it will work again

F150 2004 blower working only on high position.

this is because your blower motor resisters are burned out for speeds 1,2 & 3. High speed does not have a resister.

Replace the resister. If it goes a 2nd time, it is because your blower motor is failing & drawing too much current.

it is behind the glove box I think. It is in the plenum case where air blowing on it keeps it cool.

Easy repair. May need to access throught glove box which should open all the way down when you squeeze the sides in.

Go to tascafordparts.com for a discounted resister.
Please rate as solved problem if this is what you needed.

Blower Motor Switch Resistor
Blower Motor Resistor Coils 9ba1105.gif Blower Motor Thermal Limiter 47afe58.gif The heater blower motor switch resistor has the following features:
  • The assembly is located on the passenger side of the plenum assembly behind the glove compartment (06010).
  • Three resistance elements are mounted on the resistor board to provide four A/C blower motor speeds.
  • Depending on the heater blower motor switch position, series resistance is added or bypassed in the A/C blower motor circuit to decrease or increase A/C blower motor speed.
  • An overheating protective device (thermal limiter) will open the resistor coil circuit when the temperature reaches 121°C (250°F), interrupting the blower motor operation in all speeds except HI.
  • The thermal limiter cannot be reset and is not serviceable.
