Question about 2004 Ford Crown Victoria
At times the headlights do not work. most of the time it works by leaving the auto control on. sometimes you can turn them on and they stay for awhile. when it is not working we pull back on the turn signal and brights lever and hold it until we get home. i have changed the dash switch, that was not the problem. help would be appreciated. thanks
I finally bit the bullet and took it into the dealer. It was indeed the Light Control Module (LCM). The dealer said there was not a service bulletin issued on this problem but when I asked the service manager to talk to the Ford rep about assisting with this safety issue, it took all of ten seconds for him to come back on the line and say that they would fix the whole thing for $100. (My car is not under warranty and the LCM alone is $480). Not sure exactly what happened behind the scenes but it appears Ford would rather fix this than have an issue made of it. (This is a privately owned car that does have wigwags and other emergency lighting equipment installed. These were not a factor).

If you have a 1999-2011 Mercury Marquis, Mercury Marauder, or Crown Victoria, and your headlights and or tail lights don\'t work, Ford just finally extended the warranty on your LCM (Lighting Control Module) for free - both parts and labor and will install a new one for free! Ford has extended the warranty to 15yrs/250,000. Must be done at Ford and the fix is free. Have your Vin # ready and call your local Ford Dealer and tell them you need to make an appointment because your lights don\'t work and Ford has extended your warranty on the LCM. Tell them it is the Customer Satisfaction Program 14N01. If they act ****** ask to talk to the manager or tell them to call Ford Motor Company and ask them or you can call Ford yourself. We just had ours done on 8-12-14 in Scottsdale, AZ. If you have a 99 you better get there before Oct. 14th, 2014 as it is a 15 year warranty.

File complaint with the NHTSB http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/defects/results.cfm
There is an open investigation on this problem and hopefully we can get our cars fixed under a recall.
Investigation No: PE08-066

Just looking over some of my questions. the reason i asked about ex police car is they make the neat side to side headlights by use of a couple relays. be that as it may you may want to check the headlight relay it could very well be malfunctioning
