My guess would be, based on the age of the car, that the compressor is out of oil; meaning it doesn't work. It's not a simple matter of adding oil like to an engine.
if it was running when you parked it it should crank at least make sure the battery is hot for sure check your cables and tryturning the engine by hand
Is the check engine light on ? It sounds like the engine temp sensor is not right, but if that were true you should have a check engine light and a code for the sensor. Have you checked fuel pressure ?
Please clarify which dowel pins you are looking for. There are dowel pins that align the head to the block, and dowel pins that align the transmission case to the engine block. I hope this helps you.
