98 honda civic. I replaced the clutch two days ago. Now the clutch pedal stays down and I can't get the clutch into gear unless the car is off. Then it won't start if I have my foot on the brake. If I start the car with my got off the brake it moves without me pushing on the gas and stalks if I push on the brake. I've pumped the pedal like crazy. All fluid levels are full.

Your clutch is not releasing, check the slave cylinder. Consider bringing it to a professional.

SOURCE: 2002 Civic Dx Clutch?

i have just replaced an 03 civic ex clutch and transmission bearings due to a customer being too harsh on it. It sounds like its got a little life left in it if you are easy on it.

if there is adjustment in this model use the below walkthrough to adjust it.

adjust the clutch pedal,

1. if you look up on the top of the clutch pedal, the first thing you should see if a clutch pedal position switch, and right behind it there is a locknut, looens the locknut. once you loosen it, back off on the pedal position switch or adjusting bolt untill it no longer touches the clutch pedal.

2. now behind the clutch pedal, there is a pushrod. and on that pushrod, there is a locknut, loosen that locknut. Now turn the pushrod in or out to get the desired height and stroke at the clutch pedal.

The freeplay is the amount of push on the clutch pedal to where is starts to have resistance from the top. I have usually been told it should be set at 1 1/2-2 inches of freeplay.

Once you set it, tighten the locknut on the pushrod. With the clutch pedal released, turn in the clutch pedal position switch untill it contacts the clutch pedal. then turn it an additional 3/4 to 1 turn. And tighten the locknut.

Now on top of the clutch pedal switch, there is a clutch interlock switch. Loosen the locknut on that switch. then press the clutch pedal to the floor.

release the clutch pedal 15-20 mm (0.59-0.79 in) from the fully pressed position, and hold it there. adjust the position of the clutch interlock switch so the engine will start with the clutch pedal in this position. then tighten the locknut on that switch.

Hope this helps

SOURCE: Need to know how to bleed clutch of 1995 honda

Fill the clutch reservoir with new brake fluid and kneel down beside the car, reach in with your hand and pump the clutch pedal up and down until it starts to return on it's own. Check the reservoir level, hop in the car and pump the pedal about twenty times with you foot, the clutch will self bleed and you'll be able to shift. If there is a leak somewhere, this problem will reoccur until the cause of the leak is fixed.

Engine revs but no acceleration

Clutch plate and pressure plate seem to be too weak to pull the car. Or one of the CV joints is detached from the gear box. To test the clutch plate, park the car on flat surface. Pull the hand brake up, start the car, depress the foot brake pedal, depress the clutch pedal, put the car in 1st gear, press the gas pedal and leave the clutch pedal at once, while keeping the brake pedal depressed.
Follow one of the two following statements:
1. Engine does not shut down and remain start. (Clutch plate, pressure plate and clutch bearing defective - Replace all as a set)
2. Engine shuts down. (Clutch system is OK and does not require any repair).

98 civic hatchback, clutch goes to floor and stays there. The clutch and brake system share a resevior for fluid. Fluid levels are good. Is there a cylinder for the clutch like the brake cylinder? Is it...

Yes ,there has to be a separate clutch slave cylinder,
as it used to be called
Can't use the brake master for both
If you look around the transaxle, you should be able
to follow a plastic or rubber line back to the slave cyl
It may be down low on firewall
You most likely will have to get those parts at a dealer,
as I recall, from years ago when i had a trans shop
Sorry I can't be exactly familiar with your exact set up

Gears are all moving without the clutch car does not move on any gear 1991 honda civic breeze

When you said without clutch I'm assuming you mean w/out clutch pedal pressed down. Assuming that, and you have the trans in gear with foot off clutch pedal, and vehicle will not move then it sounds like the clutch disc or pressure plate is worn out. These parts wear out just like brake pads or even the bottom of your shoes. Once it's done they have to be replaced.

97 civic hard to get in 1st gear/clutch not disengaging

Look for WETNESS at the Master cylinder, and at the Slave cylinder, attached to the Bell housing. The loss of fluid is reducing the Stroke of the Push Rod, which will create Clutch Drag, as you appear to describe.

Acceleration lazy in 2nd gear

Try chaecking the tranny fluid to make sure it's at optimal level. After that if it still has issues, Try getting your clutch and gear plates checked. If it's an automatic have your Torque converter checked for poor connection.
