What does 'check' warning light on instrument panel mean on daewoo tacuma

Orange light on with check written in middle. Not oil, battery, temp, water, all fluids fine. Is it manual transmission fluid? If so where does it go or how can I check it?

No, it's not the transmission. No monitors for that. It sounds like your check engine light.
When your engine computer detects a problem with it's engine management controls, or when an emissions problem is detected, the computer will turn your check engine light and store a code or codes describing the problem.
Autozone will scan your codes for free. Then you'll know if the light means a major problem (fix right away) or a minor problem that needs attention. When it's fixed, the light will stay off.
You won't know what that light means until you get the codes read. Good luck.

Wife just called and said "a square orange light just came on on the upper left side of the dash." I can't visualize the dash warning lights and trying to figure out which one it is. Battery,...

Without knowing the year of your truck, I'm assuming that it is a 2000 or newer and has a message center on the left side of the of the instrument panel.

If it was an orange square, with no writing in it, then it was probably the Battery warning light, which illuminates when there is a problem with the charging system. The engine coolant light would more than likely be a message that says TEMP, and the check engine light would be shaped like an engine (both would be in the message center).

Oil light comes on

Yellow oil can lit means you need to top up the oil. Red oil can means you have lost oil pressure.

Daewoo tacuma engine management light

There is sooo many problems with the 1.8ltr engine (2001) ..for example the oil ports in the cylinder head casting are way too small.. this causes clogging and obvious lack of flow and then lack of power due to compression ratio going out the window.. I've re-built quite a wee number of these puppies.. including my wife's own car..so I heartily recommend the below..
1/ THOROUGHLY FLUSH EVERY LAST BIT OF GRIME, DEBRIS, LACQUERS & OIL OUT OF ENTIRE ENGINE..
2/CHANGE FILTER & REFILL WITH SEMI-SYNTHETIC 15/40 OIL..
3/ OIL AND FILTERS MUST BE CHANGED EVERY 3,000 TO 6,000MILES TO MAINTAIN ENGINE (IF NOT BORING OIL PORTS AND QUITE SUBSTANTIAL WORK & EXPENSE)

This should give immediate effect, but you may also consider the CRANK/FLYWHEEL SENSOR.. It's NOTORIOUS.. Along with the IGNITION COIL PACK.. CONSTANTLY CRACKING HIGH TENSION LEADS..Etc...
Hope this helps someone out there..
