2003 jeep grand cherokee , first time jeep wont start and the no key light is on. Do the keys that have the chips in them need to be replaced from time to time?

You may have to take the key to the dealer, so they can program the chip inside the key so vehicle recognize it.

use the auto lock on your keys to lock and unlock this should fix it

if the other light is ok and the fuel gauge is only dead, may be you have no more fuel, try to refill fuel, if the battery is also dead replace new battery.

This sounds like a bad chip in the key, try a spare key, if it starts with spare key then key is bad, if it doesnt start then you will need reprograming

I just replaced my battery today and noticed a switch that the battery sits on. I havent looked in to it but I would guess the car wont start or maybe even not turn over it it thinks the battery has moved from where it belongs. Hope this helps some.

Could be fuel pump. Have you changed your fuel filter?

it sounds like the ignition cylinder itself is worn and needs replacement. the fact that you cant turn the key. thing that can cause this is if you have to many keys on your key chain .

• wrong key! you may need to go and get a key made from the dealership it cost $40 try this first!!

it is having trouble reading your key chip. You may need to get a new key thru someone other than dealer. Dealer is WAY too expensive. Check around locally and save some $$.
