2002 dodge grand caravan 3.3 v6 running rough like on 4 plugs

If one of your ignition coils on the coil pack has gone out, that would affect two cylinders, and you would only have 4 cylinders still functioning. Those two cylinders would not have spark, well, actually a jolt of high voltage current, on the wires going to the spark plugs.

2000 dodge caravan had blown headgaskit mechanic sent both heads to machine shop reinstalled had bad miss took back said found bad push rod fixed still has bad miss took back he could n ot find prob...

Make sure the mechanic replaced your head bolts. Do not re use old head bolts. Then verify your compression at each cylinder, then you can move on to other possibilities. If you have good pressure and the torque sequence was followed, then check the basics; spark plugs, wires, and your coil pack. (I think you have a coil pack, not a cap) My money is on your coil pack. There is many things it could be, but this gives you a starting point.

Need a wire diagram for 2000 dodge caravan 3.3 liter for coil packs

the dark green with orange wire is the only one that should have power. The other three are grounded by the PCM.

No spark in dodge 2.4L engine

Check your coil/coil packs if equipped, also make sure plug wires aren't damaged i.e. perform a resistance test.

What is a firing order

This is a quick explanation:

1996 Dodge Caravan
3.3 liter

c17hydro_162.gif

The big rectangles are referencing the engine, the cylinder associated to it's "firing" are the colored circles, and the are also the location of the spark plugs....the smaller lego-looking block is your coil pack. The spark plug wires run from the coil pack to the spark plug on the engine. The wires match 1 to1 or black to black...and so on....

When these are matched to each cylinder/spark plug and it's wire leading to the matching coil pack position, this is it's "firing order". If one of the wires is "crossed" meaning, not 1 going to 1, then the engine will "miss-fire".

Went through some water van died after sitting a day it started up but engine light is now on and sputters when stopped went to auto zone they say i have a 2 cylinder misfire what excactly does this mean...

It means that the number 2 cylinder (passenger front of the engine) is not working. Whether its spark, fuel, or mechanical. The first thing you can check is if there is spark to the cylinder. With the engine running remove the spark plug wire from the number 2 spark plug. Listen or look for spark out of the plug wire. If there isn't than you can check for spark out of the coil pack. Do this with a test light or spark tester. With the engine off remove the number 2 spark plug wire from the coil pack. With the spark tester installed or the test light hooked to ground and placed on the #2 coil post have some body crank the engine over. If ther4e is no spark that you might have a bad coil pack. If there is spark than possibly the plug wire is bad.

You should not drive it with a misfire as you could ruin the catalytic converter which is very expensive to replace.

I have a 2001 dodge caravan with 3.3 v6.the engine is misfiring on cylinder #1 and #5.how do i check the coil to see if the coil is bad?

maybe it is the spark plugs or spark plug wires. or it is the distributor cap and rotor. the coil just provides the spark. but you can have it tested at a part store.
