Okay...understandable, but i unlocked my car twice and the alarm was set off when i opened the door. I don't know what was done to set the alarm. I didnt even know my car had an alarm until the first time it went off. I was just curious if it maybe....had something to do with the way i locked my doors when i got out the car.
How long have you owned this car? For this car the key does not activate the alarm per say. The key can be used to disengage the alarm if you stick it in the ignition and if the alarm is turned on that key in the door will be recognized as well and disengage the alarm as well. So if you had this vehicle for a while and this is just now happening out of the blue you may want to get that key looked at because the chip or battery could be starting to fail and messing with the alarm. When either go bad it can mess with the halo (signal) as well.
But if you want to have full access to turning the alarm on and off you will need an FOB. Find out if you have factory of aftermarket security system first so you can get the proper one. Some of the factory keys have the alarm buttons on the key themselves.
