The car was running fine one day then the next day it would not start. We tried jumping it thinking the battery might be dead and it still would niot start. The car has power until we take the jumper cables off, then it seems like the battery is completely dead. When we jump the car it semms like it wants to turn over but just doesn't have enough power or something is keeping it from starting.

Sounds like you have a toasted battery or alternator. Have you performed a load test on the battery? Have you tried to charge the battery? First remove the battery and charge it externally from the vehicle. If the battery won't hold a charge, or won't hold a charge of 12 volts, replace it. Once you have the vehicle started, test the operation of the alternator. It should be putting out at least 13 volts back to the battery to keep it charged - if it is putting less than 13 volts or more than 16 volts, replace the alternator.

This is my sister's car. She took the battery up to get it tested today at the auto store and they said it was done for so she is going to purchase a new one and hopefully that does the trick. Thanks very much for your help in this matter.

99 Plymouth breeze. Starter and battery 2 months old. Wont start. No power at all. No headlights either. Please help.

Make sure battery terminals are tight and not corroded. If still not take battery back and get it tested, could have a dead cell.

the 'no lights' part makes me think it could be a bad ground -- follow the ground cable from the battery where it should connect with the chassis then continue on the the engine itself -- make sure it's very firmly connected at each point (battery end as well)

Is it my battery?

well this is what you should try ,,jump the car get it running
then when its warmed up take the positive lead of the battery
if the car stops the alternator is gone (thats what charges the battery) if the car runs its fine

and if u have put another new battery in it and the alternator is fine look for any broken wires earths or positives that could be making it drain so quick
and make sure your battery levels are full
hope this helps
