SOURCE: radiator coolant
proper proceedure of coolant is if the radiator requires half water and half coolant or full coolant to fill engine if coolant low mix a bottle of coolant half a bottle and then add water to the other half of container for proper adding back to radiator
ok heres how you properly fill a radiator and fill can in engine compartment
start vehicle when cool
poor in proper fluid till comes up to top
now wait till engine warms up and thermo kicks in this will drop the fluid after about 5 minutes to warm
then fill back till top off not over flow
the engine will pull fluid where needed
dont be scared by head gasket the indicator of a blown head gasket is your oil will look like chocolate milk when you pull the dip stick or do an oil change
if head gasket blown dont drive you will then crack the block tow truck to tech or as do it yourselfer doing the work
SOURCE: My sons radiator hose busted.
Could be just the coolant has gotten onto the water temp sensor and is causing it to ground out,,,this may clear up when it dry's completely.
If not,,then the temp sensor may be stuck in the grounded position, and may need replacement.
SOURCE: antifreeze/coolantleak
Could be leaking on the inside, head gasket is a possibility. A bad gasket lets coolant into the combustion chamber and burn with the fuel and you will never see it on the ground. Yes, coolant will burn, I've seen it as I was grabbing a fire extinguisher.
SOURCE: 2005 chrysler town & country coolant leak
check the temp. coolant senser sometimes they will leak mine did and drove me nuts.If not there could be a main gasket leak.
SOURCE: radiator fan relay,2001 chrysler town country
the relay is located in the power distribution box under the hood the relay will be a square black or gray cube just pull out and make sure you rerplace it with the same type relay. refer to your owners manual for any questions regarding the fuses and relays
I assume you have checked the cooling system to ensure that first, that it is completely full of coolant (not just the overflow tank) and second that there are no leaks anywhere. Your description indicates either low coolant level and/or air locks in the cooling system. Only check coolant level when engine is cold. If it needs topping up, add coolant and then run engine at idle with heat control on full, until it reaches operating temperature, topping up as necessary. Allow cooling fans to cycle on and off a few times to ensure all air is purged from system. If coolant was low, then check regularly when engine is warm to see if you can find where the coolant is leaking. The places where the hoses connect to the metal pipes around the engine are the most likely points of leakage or a hose could have weakened and split.
If coolant level is OK and there are no leaks then it could mean a faulty water pump.
