MY gauges on my 1988 jeep comanche do not work at all.

check the wiring harness that runs to your gauges and make sure there are no wires bare or grounding out any where

Need a diagram and step by step instructions to replace a altenator on a 1988 jeep comanche. Cant afford to pay a mechanic going to try myself if possible.

Only have to remove or loosen the drive assy belt
& remove 2 or 3 bolts from altermator

If you need instructions, then you can't work on vehicles

How do you know the alt need replacing?
What sort of test was performed,it may be okey

One caution on this design is to make sure the cable slide stays in the shoe, or the cable will be loose. With the slide in the shoe and the cable attached to the top post, put the return spring on to hold the slide in place before attaching the cable to the self adjuster at the bottom.

chapters and indago sell chilton books they are a god send the have all the wiring diagrams in the back of the book also auto zone carries the books too

check the solenoid on the starter it powers the ign for starting then switches to run when you let off key,either the solenoid is bad or a wire to the solenoid has come unhooked and sometime they have an in line fuse which can blow.

Need diagram of vacuum system for 1988 jeep comanche pick-up 6 cy

Haynes manual has a diagram. Main important hookups are to power brake booster, fuel pressure regulator and map sensor. also need a connection to a/c controls inside drivers compartment and evap system canister. will also need connection to egr valve solenoid if you have one. as well as pcv on valve cover (or ccv which replaces pcv on some)

Why replace the whole fuse box? That's rediculous. If you can't find the fuse box, just fix the affected circuit. Did they check the brake switch?

Thanks so much! We just hooked up a new stereo in our old Jeep, and couldn't have done it without this. Only difference we found is that the Left Rear (+) is Green/White not Gray/White on our Comanche. Thanks!
