Oxygen sensors on 2002 Honda CR-V

I replaced both oxygen sensors and the engine light came on again after just 40 miles.  I reset the computer and I still get the codes P1166 and P1167.  What is the problem?

P1166 pertains to the upstream O2 sensor heater circuit. P1167 pertains to the upstream O2 sensor output.

  • Anonymous Sep 24, 2008

that could mean that you have a bad upstream
sensor, or it could be as simple as two (or more) of the four wires
being chaffed together, wires broken, poor connections (most likely
dirt/corrosion at the four pin connector), simply a bad ground, etc.

    The
only way to know for sure is to have someone with a proper scan tool
(not a generic code reader) and the knowledge to use it to check the
datastream and then probably follow up with a pinout chart and a DVOM.

2002 MR2 fuel system too rich bank 1 and bank 2

Peter. The dealer did diagnose the problem. They said the car needed all 3 oxygen sensors replaced. They were replaced and the car is now returning codes p0172 and p0175 which are the only 2 codes coming up when the check engine light came on. My question is if the dealer sold me the incorrect oxygen sensors could this cause the computer to incorrectly set the p0172 and p0175 rich fuel mixture codes. There are no other codes coming up. My plan at this point is to check and clean the MAF, check my fuel pressure, and also the TPS but I did not want to waste my time if it could possibly be that the new oxygen sensors where the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Engine light came on - yellow. Code: P0134 02

there is either a problem with the wiring going to the front oxygen sensor, or with the oxygen sensor itself. good luck!

My 2007 CRV fuel efficiency has dropped more than 40%

invest in a tin of good quality brake cleaner open engine bay remove each multiplug on engine and gearbox one by one and sparay with brake cleaner do this one at a time (brake cleaner evaporates and doesnt do any harm) it is most likey to be a bad contact on the map sensor(manifold pressure sensor) or the ecu control valve DO NOT USE ANY ABRASIVES TO CLEAN THESE as this will destroy the plug and they are very sensitive could be an oxygen sensor but unlikely

Need info on codes PCM.P0134 and P0420

Both codes are for the oxygen sensors.
P0134 oxygen sensor on bank #1, sensor #1 is bad.
P0420 oxygen sensor on bank #1, the sensor down by the catalytic converter, is also bad.

Code 1167 - Honda CRV 2002

Check all fuses, then check the wiring of the two 02 sensors on either side of the cat. converter. If the fuses and wiring are fine, it is likely one of the oxygen sensors; one is about $50 and the other is $200 (parts only). Use only Honda recommended parts, not BOSCH.
