I tried to pump up a tire, using the dashboard cig. lighter utility for power. I heard a fiss type sound and the cig. lighter was dead. The fuse for the cig. lighter is good. The dashboard cig. lighter does not work and the one in the console never worked. What could the problem be? The cig. lighter unit itself. Is there another fuse that is part of this configuration that I am not aware of?

You may have burned out the lighter unit.check the wires for melting also!

I took the car into my mechanic. He found that there there is another fuse under the dashboard that is not listed on the Fuse boxes or in the manual. The fuse was changed and now both the dashboard lighter socket and the one in the console work. The one in the console never worked from the day I bought the care.
Console and dash power outlet don't work. I would like to know the location of the fuse in either the dashboard or under hood fusebox.
