1993 mustang 4 cylinder that will start up go a couple of miles down the then die, then ill have to let it sit for a few minute and turn the key back and forth a couple of times before it will start, Im also having problems with me starting it running 5 minutes from home shutting the car off and it not starting back up for about 20 minutes

    Also when it will not crank immediately back does the tach register while cranking the engine over ? And can you get spark at the plugs ?

    A crank sensor or ignition module heat failing can cause these issues .

It's got all the symptoms of a leak in the fuel line. You may want to start backward at the tank and work your way all the way to the carb to find it but it would be surprising if it was something else. All the best.

you really need to have your fuel pump tested it sounds like its weak or you have a bad fuel filter.

This could be the stator sensor inside your distributor. This is a common problem with 1994 - 1995 Mustang GT's. Did you ever notice your tachometer behave sporadically? Does the car ever stall while driving? These are two symptoms of that problem.

well it is a fuel problem or electrical , If it was fuel then the filter is plugged up, on the other hand if is is eletrical it could be a bad coil

What have you replaced recently? One man in UK replaced a relay unit in the igniton wiring with one that fit and worked perfectly for 11 minutes and 46 seconds exactly, then all power in the engine was lost. Turn the key to off, turn on, start engine, perfect for another 11 minutes and 46 seconds, ad infinitum.he drove 1100 miles including motorways with this fault, on, off, on, off....
At home he found that the relay that fitted perfectly was the type of relay for the rear window Heater on a French brand of car..the one which turns off after 11 minutes and 46 seconds.

possibly 4 things 1 bad ignition coil heating up then breaking down,2 clogged fuel filter,3 weak fuel pump,4 bad throttle position sensor or map sensor to check sensors simply put on hand held scanner and look for codes. replace fuel filter replace coil pack along with tune up plugs wires put fuel pressure gauge to see if fuel pump is working properly

I've got to be reading this incorrectly...You are driving, the engine turns off...you pull off the road? And then without touching the key the engine re-starts, but you haven't touched the key? Or, sometimes you need to sit there for a few minutes and then turn the key to start it?

My 97 mustang 3.8l died on me as i was coming to a stop. I let it sit for 5 minutes and started it,in neutral it was fine, but when i put it in gear to move it died again and wouldn't start untili let it...
im going to just throw this out there but it could be the stand pipe in the fuel tank.i have a 96 gt and when i come to a hard stop or right hand turn the engine will turn off complety and sometimes will start back up so any way the only way to check this prob is to drain and drop down the fuel tank and see if there is a problem in the tank good luck

On my 1993 ford mustang Lx 4 cyl,if I drive car turn-off and after 25 minutes try to start car will crank ,but won't start and if I don't hold ignition key until it start it won't start unless I hold down...
It can be anything - throttle adjustment, burnt out spark plugs, clogged fuel filter(honestly not common and really just a reason to replace it xD), or a worn out fuel pump.
First check the throttle/idle setting if it's fine, then the wires leading to the throttle body and air sensors, also the wires leading to the fuel pump.
also check if there isn't too much oil in the air filter's box or anywhere the engine vent's hoses lead.
