2004 Jeep Liberty. Cannot sit and idle. Overheats, smokes, anti-freeze boils. Had thermostat replaced. I was told that I need a new fan module. What's the diff. between the fan and a fan module??? The guy quoted me like $400 to take care of it...needless to say, didn't have him fix it! What should I do?

Check on eBay, you can find them modules on there for a LOT less than at parts stores! Of course it may take about a week or so to get it!
Once you get it, you may can replace it yourself? Try looking up a video on youtube or of course once you have it you may can identify it yourself under the hood of the vehicle and replace it.
Most just plug right in, but I can't recall right off on that model. Trust me, google can be your friend. :)

SOURCE: My Jeep overheats while sitting idle. When I drive, the gauge goes down quickly. I have had thermostat and fan changed. I have also had the radiator flushed. What can it be?

Check your water pump and also sometimes a radiator flush is not good enough more than likely the radiator is blocked you have take to a radiator expert and have pulled apart and cleaned thoroughly

SOURCE: Leaking anti-freeze in Jeep Liberty 2004.

I love my 04 jeep I have replaced the water pump because my anti freeze was leaking..my gasket on my water pump was bad..Then 2 months later again leaking antifreeze, replaced the pump again..then again I ended up having to replace the timing cover because it built up so much pressure that it put pivets in the cover that or because they removed it so many times to replace the pump..thats where i would check first then go from there.

2004 jeep liberty won't turn over nor crank

The anti-theft system won't allow it to start . You replaced parts without knowing what would happen . The key has a transponder is the head of the key . The module that controls anti-theft doesn't see the transponder code an locked up the vehicle . Your best bet ,have it towed to a qualified repair shop . You don't have the tools or knowledge to fix it .

Jeep still overheating after changing the water pump, thermostat and radiator

Have a compression test done on the engine to check for gasket/head problems.. If you have a viscous fan hub then check that it is driving the fan while idling or if electric fans check that they are working properly. Make sure that the correct ratio of anti-boil--anti-freeze is in the water that is in the system. If you have an auto run fault codes and check for servo/sensor failure and O-drive is working.

Jeep Liberty 2002 heater does not work when engine is ideling

Check anti-freeze level and thermostat first. If not, there's some electronic/computer/sensor ********! I once replaced a heater core in a friends car only to find out she was low on anti-freeze the whole time but not enough to send an alarm or blinking light. You can have flucuations in heat when engine exurts pressure wi'll driving and while idling.

Car overheated and antifreze was boiling and spewing over until engine cooled. 2004 jeep liberty 2wd. Thanks!

Need to know what caused the overheating, possible broken serpentine belt, thermostat, water pump, radiator, fan clutch, cooling fan motor. After motor has cooled down fill radiator with water till full, look make sure serpentine belt not broke, start engine run about 5 minutes, turn off, let sit 3 minutes, start engine look at temperture gauge is it over half way of gauge, Do you have a fan blade driven by water pump or electric fans?
