If you are referring to the air won't blow through the defrost vents or on the floor, you may have a stuck or broken blend door actuator. This part diverts air through the different settings: defrost, vent, floor etc. If you aren't getting warm or hot air regardless of the settings, you may either be low on coolant or have a bad thermostat.

Mercury smokes by the belt when defrost is on.

You talking the upper radiator hose? Rarely they do collapse,but usuall it's a bad thermostat or really dirty radiator,or the cooling fans not activating. don-ohio (:^)

sounds like ur blend air door motor,or cable is inop. u gonna need to remove glove box door to access this cable or motor,an try to actuate manually to see if u can get heat. mayb door motor,broken door hinge,no power to motor (faulty ac head) one of these should cover it an will help in fixing this issue
