Hi,
It sounds like you have alot of problems which may only be a couple.
Have the coolant thermistor checked, it sounds like this is not switching off and causing the engine to over fuel, making it run rough and blow black smoke out the exhaust.
Have the engine thermostat checked it maybe faulty causing the engine to over heat., have these done and see how you cars goes then.

I would check the exhaust pipe a little closewr. White smoke can also mean a blown head gasket. Check the tail pipe to see if moisture is present. Also check coolant level. A blown head gasket can also cause related problems.

First thing,Pam,I'd clean the MAF sensor with brake cleaner spray, after of course, checking for the vacuum leaks which cause so many idling problems. (:^) don-ohio
