The fuel filter in the Oldsmobile Intrigue is located under the car in front of the fuel tank. The purpose of the fuel filter is to pull out any debris and sediment that may have been sucked up by the fuel pump in the tank. Harmful sediment and debris can be hazardous to the engine. Replacement of the filter should be done every 30,000 miles.
It sounds to me like your engine coolant level may be exremely low and your engine is probably severly overheating. I would recommend checking your coolant (antifreeze) level and checking for possible engine damage due to overheating.
The reverse light is actuated by a switch either on your transmission itself or on the steering column. The switch can simply have went bad and just needs replaced if you have already made sure your bulbs are all good.It is usually called the"back up light switch" and can be bought aftermarket at places like Advance and Autozone.Finding a short can be time consuming and frustrating. If you know how to use a multimeter, set it on "audible continuity" and then start making sure your ground wires are all good and dont touch any positive wires by touching one end of the wire to the black lead and the red to the other end of a wire.It just takes patience checking each wire in the circuit that is bad.
