There is a linkage on the Loadflight A-500 transmission that travels from the throttle linkage to a lever on the transmission. Proper adjustment of this linkage controls the shift schedule of the transmission with respect to engine throttle position. This would be the most likely place to start after ensuring that your fluid level is correct.
I will try looking at adjustment on linkage. I remember having a problem like that when I put a 440 motor and 727 transmission in a 64 Savoy. It took some adjusting on it to get it to shift right.I will try looking at adjustment on linkage. I remember having a problem like that when I put a 440 motor and 727 transmission in a 64 Savoy. Sounds like a shift servo is out. When you try for 4X4 high or 2wd it won't shift right? So it stands to reason that it's not completing the shift.
Unless you are a tranny guy. I suggest that you take it too one.
Hope this helped,
Jason
First, you do not need 4 low unless you're stuck out in the bush somewhere. Secondly, when you shift from 2 high to 4 high, it goes in immediately. To access 4 low, the tranny shifter must first be put into neutral, wait five seconds, then shift into 4 low. To shift out of 4 low back to 4 high, you must shift into neutral for 5 seconds again. They both flash at the same time because you have not shifted into neutral gear with the transmission.
Check the cable that goes from the throttle body to the small arm above the shift arm on the drivers side of the the transmission. Does the arm move as you press on the accelerator?
Check for vacuum leaks on the high idol. You have a speed sensor or wiring issue with the tranny. Will need to be checked somewhere with a computer to know for sure on the tranny.
