I suspect the Mass Air Flow sensor is the problem, but before you replace anything run a test to get any trouble codes from the computer, Krafen and other parts stores do it for free, then get back to me on this post.

Hello, I have a 2000 toyota tacoma 2.7 4 cylinders, which has been running very rough on first start up, like 3 cylinders and then clears up on its own after about 30sec.....

Hi. If you see white smoke out the tailpipe, the engine is running rough and the coolant temp is getting higher and fluctuating. Your engine has a bad head gasket. There is no way the radiator cap can hold back that type of pressure. With the radiator cool and full. As the engine runs, you should witness coolant filling the over flow reservoir. Any questions please write back.

So I drive a 1999 chevy Cavalier and ive been having many problems with it. It blows black smoke sometimes from the exhust, on the hot and cold gauage the needle works its way to the hot end all the time,...

Hi,
It sounds like you have alot of problems which may only be a couple.
Have the coolant thermistor checked, it sounds like this is not switching off and causing the engine to over fuel, making it run rough and blow black smoke out the exhaust.
Have the engine thermostat checked it maybe faulty causing the engine to over heat., have these done and see how you cars goes then.

Black smoke from exhaust, rough idle, black soot on plugs

signs of a bad fuel pressure regulator-- the vehicle will run rough, the engine will not start ( usually in the mornings,) many times engine starts but stalls shortly after starting. a bad regulator can result in fouled plugs. replacement is only cure. 1- black soot on plugs-2-black smoke from tailpipe-3- running rough-4- stalling, good-day! repost if need be.

I have just had to have the aa out to my car.I was driving along and i noticed black smoke coming out of the exhaust and lack of power, any ideas to what my be the problem?

coolant tempurature sensor may be bad. (if it is bad it will run to rich, run rough at idle, and produce black smoke. engine may stall out.

Now starting when cold, it belches black smoke and runs very roug

Sounds like either the float level is too high, there is a problem with the float needle valve or the power valve is stuck. I'd take the carb off and either replace it or take it apart and check everything inside. If you do nothing, chances are it will either get worse or if it's a small piece of junk inside, it may clear up by itself...I'd take it apart. Since it's pretty new, if you are careful, likely you won't need a gasket kit.

Black smoke when i start engine, very rough idle.

sounds like possible a sensor went bad or is loosly connected. O2 sensor??? Also check the air filter. Sounds like whatever it is, is making the truck run rich----that would be the black smoke.

Hope this helps
